X-Plane 12.0.8b2 is available

this is just frustrating to be constantly running into something, wrong plug-in here, fmod there, AI crashing, incompatible scenery library over there, outdated texture format ..... probably better to use just plain vanilla x-plane. tired of this non beta related nonsense,

Since one may have as many X-Plane installations on a single computer as one desires (as long as only one is running), the recommmended setup is to have one add on-laden installation for the newest stable release and a vanilla installation for beta releases.

The "X-Plane 12 Global Scenery" folder can be stored outside of the XP installation folders and simply accessed from either via symbolic link. Same as any third party aircraft folder.

it is not always immediately clear in a new beta version if a problem is introduced by the new beta version or by an existing addon, this is why I thought discussions with other users might be helpful and welcome, but in this specific forum obviously not.

"Der Ton macht die Musik" (tone sets the music) and of course the individual's posting history.

But you found a valid issue with the traffic pack, so it's best to inform the author about it.

Either here: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/forum/788-dazzyb-ai-traffic-packs/

Or here: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/85166-ai-airliners-traffic-pack-for-x-plane-12-version-10-for-windows-max-linux/&page=2&tab=comments

Alternatively, you could try to save the offending ACF file(s) in 12.0.8's PlaneMaker and see if some sensible default values will be added for any undefined parameters that will prevent the "nan/inf" error from occurring.

same error message for other AI aircraft, this doesn't help me.

I purchased x-plane because I wanted to fly a simulator, not an SDK to develop one.

Again, in a forum like this, you can expect advice from peers. If you want this to be addressed, you have to contact the proper person.

You can throw out the offending plugin and continue flying the simulator, or roll back the beta.

This message appears for any unconfigured ACF file that is opened in in 12.0.8's PlaneMaker, be it an AI or user aircraft.

If you want hassle-free traffic, use LiveTraffic or TrafficGlobal. Or ask @mSparks how the new AI traffic part of AutoATC is coming along. All of these only move objects, not "fly" them like XP's default AI engine. Thus, no issues with ACF files.

Other than that, either throw out the traffic pack or roll back to 12.07.

for the time being I will remove only the offending B737CL/Air New Zealand, and will see how it goes. I brought this up so others could report their results, and find out if it is  12.0.8B2 related or the specific AI, but that's not allowed .... 😀

Alternatively I will just use default aircraft for AI and see how it impacts fps.

Of course it is allowed! Maybe it is a language thing, but my impression was you expected Avsim to fix your issue.

not what I said, instead:

Have you reported the bug to the developer yet? You must have plenty of spare time given how many times you’ve quoted my post this afternoon. Discussion of a bug is fine at AvSim but reporting it is unlikely to get it resolved.

Nan issue is known, but the traffic pack uses legacy aircraft which appear to have incorrect wing types which classes with the new fuel cooling thingy, which is known about. We need a XPlane traffic pack without ATC to use with Xplane ATC. I do suppose you could get one of the addons and simply use the planes without the ATC. At least planes would be better optimised.

Dazzy traffic pack as I started above uses legay planes not his own. I doubt he will fix anything as its freeware and seems no one will help him with it.

behaviour all lua scripted now, planes, helicopters, AA missiles, follow me car and animals, with collision detection for both vehicles and missiles and wake turbulence for planes. guns a "todo" after the next round of updates, after I finish all the documentation and 744 ACARs integration.

zips installers up on the goahead discord for win/lin and mac.

The worst offender is the flight dynamics calculations anyway, so you may be fine with the default models.

I thought this was fixed in beta 2.

Does it still use MaryTTS for communications when not connected to the app?

yeah, both also now have an extra filter that mixes in white noise based on reception strength and signal that gets obscured by terrain/valleys/mountains.

Tested so far with the Phoenix missiles that come with the F14

As an AI character

i've posted some videos of them as they came online a while back.

Once it is generally available there is a load of kit that 3rd parties can use to customise it all pretty easily.
