Am I missing something? Maybe if I had a 40 series GPU?

If I did, what improvements would I actually see?

FG. thats worth its weight in gold.

Of course. As I said, I changed to DX12 under Graphics Options, clicked on "save", and then restarted MSFS, but it reverted to DX11. Just as an aside, it has not been possible to save custom graphics settings for some time now, and I have a lot of company in this. The only way to do it that know of is via the usercfg.opt file -- but this does not include the DX choice.

Alienware Aurora R11, 32 GB ram, Intel i7-10700F, GeForce RTX 2080 Super, Ultra graphics settings

It's interesting you mention this inability to save settings because I noticed the other day that if I turn off Nano VG and restart the sim it has turned it back on again. It just will not keep that setting.

I wonder what's going on here.

The problem of being unable to save graphics settings has been a subject of several threads in the past year or so -- it dates back to an earlier SU update, I don't know which one.

still missing tiles on airports, no brainer going back to dx11.

What actually is this? I see lots of people mentioning it, and I have never ever seen it.

Has VRAM management been improved? if not, it's pointless to even try DX12 for me with only 12GB memory.

This is my experience too.  Most of the time RTSS OSD says I'm around 11,300+ GB of VRAM in use, and while it runs very smooth IF it approaches 12Gb it can get choppy, plus I have gotten CTD often the first time I change to 12, so have to restart then it's okay, and that is with clearing the DX Shader Cache.  I'll try it again now but in some ways I'm glad DX12 exploits VRAM, especially for when I get around to upgrading my GPU which I have no plans to do in the foreseeable future.

Right, if you don't have ultra low FTV at 34-35FPS then sure 😉

The Tile thing in DX12 is an odd bug, but as long as DX12 remains in beta then it's to be expected really. If the day comes that it comes out of beta and the issue persists, then it's fine r to simply ask, Why?

There is an issue with DX 12 for many users where the airport ground textures vanish in patches revealing the satellite images below. The airports disappear for all intents and purposes.

Naturally, this renders DX 12 unusable. It's been a problem since the beginning and is pretty well documented although I have never seen them directly acknowledge it. Any time I have seen someone claim they have what they tend to be talking about is another texture swapping issue that I'm pretty sure isn't even connected.

I have concerns about MSFS 2024. If they move completely over to DX 12 and have not addressed this and the issue still remains then it will be truly unusable for many of us.

Strange, I wonder if it's linked to VRAM? I am on 4090 and have never seen it.

Nope. I have 16 Gb's and it does it when only using 8 or 9.
