EDIT: per discord discussion the full DXB/OMDB airport might come later this week as payware

This was a discussion between users putting up an analogy with the venice beach pack and KLAX. Your phrase makes it sound like it was at least a clear hint from inibuilds themselves or something. Actually all I can see from ini-members is stuff like ("no omdb" and "it's the poi pack only").

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

at the very least the OMDB in the A300 trailer is not Asobo's. The terminal model and the jetways don't match.

There is an enhanced version of OMDB on flightsim.to that can then also allow for GSX Jetways to be in place - Not sure if they are using that though.

Yes they said that about this freeware release being POI only .. but see https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/639247-inibuilds-teasing-dubai-airport/?do=findComment&comment=5044966 and their other comments .. Obviously this is all fun speculation on our part, but I'd consider what ini are saying there about OMDB to be clear-ish hints 🤷‍♂️

It isn't.

Yeah I'm agreeing now - Had a look around and can't match it up. The stand at S3 looks different compared to S3 in the video.

Given ini has finally announced their Dubai landmarks + skydive scenery for free (https://forum.inibuilds.com/topic/20297-inibuilds-skydive-dubai-airport-landmarks-omdu-for-microsoft-flight-simulator-released/) now one truly has to wonder about the A380s shown in the A300 trailer and teased on discord.. the scenery pack doesn't include DXB/OMDB airport as far as I can see, the new scenery is about the city's landmarks and the OMDU skydive airport, so doesn't include the main airport that'd have the A380s, so hmmm 🙂

EDIT: per discord discussion the full DXB/OMDB airport might come later this week as payware

just in time for christmas,  I wonder if it will be finished and optimised properly.

As suspected that A380 is a static model, given ini just released the full OMDB/DXB airport and what they state in the features: https://forum.inibuilds.com/topic/20298-inibuilds-dubai-international-airport-omdb-for-microsoft-flight-simulator-released/

Looks like their new project will be a A330 of some version then (A339neo) instead of a A380. Bummer.

The secret modern long-haul airbus project was never going to be the A380.. The A380 was already announced some time ago (so not a secret), and what's known about it currently is that it's in plan but on the backburner, and also the sim platform it's being made for is not announced yet (I'd wager MSFS of course).

That said, they might still drop some updates about it during this/next weeks of reveals and announcements (EDIT: someone on discord asked about any status updates about their A380 and Josh replied "it's cooking" so that's encouraging hehe). Given their whirlwind of announcements recently wouldn't be surprised if they also revealed some significant progress on their A380.

Given what they have actually said about the secret project, it's likely to be an A330neo or A350, with A340 being less likely. They've also said it'll be revealed after the A300 releases (so likely after Dec 23).

So Josh from iniBuilds just posted this comment today:

0hEtrBE.png

If iniBuilds were to officially announce the A380 for MSFS, this year is probably not feasible anyways because there's only some 9 days left for this year, and I assume some of the iniBuilds staff are leaving or will leave for Christmas holidays soon.

My guess is, iniBuilds may be raising the priority of the A380 because they want to beat FBW to release it. Once FBW releases the A380, it could cost iniBuilds a lot of sales.

In any case, it looks like an A380 will be coming to MSFS from iniBuilds sooner or later.

That pretty much says there that the project is the A380. Low poly version of their 380 is used as static. Plus, given how much they denied their airport project was OMDB, I’m not 100% inclined to take everything they say at face value.

Again look at the context of those statements, they were made before they released the Landmarks/Skydive. They were just being cheeky.

No it doesn't, they've had an A380 model for several years, it was originally announced for X-Plane, but then put on hold.

"Are there going to be cookies?"
"No, we're never making any cookies."
"It sure smells like cookies."
"....actually those are cupcakes."
"Yeah, ok, sure, I guess."
"Oh yeah, here are the cookies that we've been making."
"I thought you said.....never mind."

Does it matter...at all? No, of course not. Not one bit, unless you're profiting off of this.

But, it does set a precedent. I'm not a fan of this marketing strategy, in any other industry, this would be considered lying.
