Anyone who throws acid on someone should be locked up for life with no chance of parole.

I agree, it's a heinous, life altering crime.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

where to start.  Its not the first madman with acid in the UK, and it will not be the last. It was even more common place until they changed the law regarding acid a few years back as it was so common place.

I used to live in Greater London and with the increase in crime, including acid attacks and street robbery, it was one of my reasons to go.

In short I was worried about being mugged and having acid throw at me.  You may think here im being dramatic but where I used to live in North London you would see daily events of moped mugging, and I wouldnt walk alone around the area between 2200 and 0700 at night, it became that dodgy, so I sold up and left.  There was a certain junction of 2 well known roads in the area where open air drug dealing was common.

Back to the topic, in my opinion the police gave him a head start, when for nearly 24 hours all the public were told was it was "a man from newcastle" to look out for.

They had a ex met dectective on LBC last night making the point that without cell data and bank card transactions its alot easier to disappear but its nearly a week and no clues.  They finally announced yesterday like will look into some of his known associates, a bit late possibily.

In some respects I feel sorry for the cops on this, whatever they do they wil have to tread very carefully espically when to comes to "putting doors in" , as theres so many issues with this case, like Rotheram and Rochdale, the MET im sure are bricking it, not to mention the GE in Novemeber.

In my opinion again, My bet is it will (like the recent liverpool womens hospital incident) it will slowly and more importantly conviently vanish from the papers, and someone from the home office will have a quiet little word with Mr Murdoch, "keep it off the front pages, old boy will you, theres a good chap"

again in my opinion,  We shall see.

I may be wrong but, despite any home office wants, I expect the Sun will decide to keep shining this story brightly as possible.

In some ways I agree, but its been said that the attention span for a news story is about a week, however.

I still im of the opinion that over a glass of port, and a few reminders of luncheon club at Scotts the wive is trying to get on on Tuesdays, What uni the son is trying to get into and wether the daughter is going to that internship at PWC or Morgan Stanley, the old boy network is still very very much alive in Uk, and if  they want a story buried, the story will be buried. Not much has changed. Its still the ties that bind that gets things done.

Most large cities in the West have pretty much become crapholes.

Here in the good ole USA I will never again go near NYC, most parts of San Fran and LA, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, D.C.(our capital!), and several others.

Even my own city of Nashville is turning into a cesspool.

Remember: it's called "progress".

Sad.

it is clear that fluffyflops is suggesting something but not coming out and saying it. I don't know what it is he is suggesting: that the Met police and the newspapers are talking quietly behind the scenes to stop covering

What is really going on" here? What are the so many issues that cannot be spoken? I am having trouble imaging what it is that Murdoch and the Met/political leadership would agree should be covered up in this particular crime.  I live in England (not London, although I Iived there in the early 2000s)

because of the politics involved.

Politics are involved taxpayers money has been spent to keep people like this in the country. And one is the leader of a political party.

Xenophobia is, I believe, banned in this forum, as are overtly racist comments.
It does not matter at all where someone came from or who they are, or indeed who "let them in" ☹️.

Evil does not recognise any of the issues that seem so important to you and does not care about
the race, colour or creed of the perpetrators of its wicked deeds.

OK!  I think this has been taken far enough with political views and such! 🔒
