Next time it happens, try toggling between Fullscreen and windowed and back.

Thanks! You've got the issue too? Only in the beta or also pre-beta?

Wow great FPS... very smooth, even with the FENIX. Even without adaptative LOD and with TAA render scaling at 120.

My RTX2070 has suddenly increased its expected lifespan by several years, I think. Thanks to Seb and the whole team.

DX11 or DX12?

I can turn the PMDG planes more than 10 degrees without having to be taxiing less than 2 knots...hurray!

the new ground physics have only been applied to specific default aircraft, not all aircraft.

Forgive me if this does not belong here, but has the Aerial ground tiles changing/popping in issue been fixed?

This is a bug logged by the developers on the MSFS forums with 521 votes and over 900 posts.

It occurs on all flights, in all locations and kills the joy of an otherwise smooth performing simulator.

Thank you 😩

No. I still get tile popping. Was hoping it would get fixed. Using DX-11.

Thank you for responding mobeans. I get smooth stutter free performance, but this tile creeping in a cone below the plane saddens me, especially this late in the game. It didn’t happen in the past, but now always. I’m surprised there  is hardly any mention of it in these forums.

Since I and others have already mentioned the super-smooth performance of the SU15 beta, I thought I'd put this beta to the ultimate test. I took the 172 and flew only a few hundred feet above Drzewiecki Chicago and Drzewiecki Washington DC. (This scenery is extremely dense and exquisitely detailed.) I selected Broken Clouds for weather, with everything set to Ultra at 4K. The sim performed perfectly. There were no glitches, stutters, pauses, etc. None! Because I use an aging 4K TV as my primary display, I'm forced to cap the fps at 60 in the Nvidia Control Panel. So I don't know what the upper limits of the fps truly are with this beta. But I will happily testify in court that, at 60 fps, SU15 runs superbly at 4K Ultra. Performance is beyond smooth.

Can anyone let me know please if updating to SU15 beta will not harm payware sceneries and PMDG, FeniX, and other add ons. I am very eager to update just for improvements in  performance and ATC

couldn't agree more. and as the benchmark Captain Piett and I think Noel have shown using CapFrameX, constant frame times, not higher frame rates is what makes the sim go (fly) round. even only 30 fps, provided frame times are constantly at 33 milliseconds, will result in a very smooth experience.  we all heard Seb from Asobo mention future optimisations would come in SU15 beta, but honestly I had my doubts because he didn't appear too enthusiastic about it, and so I did not expect this much of an improvement. for the first time it really feels like a recorded youtube flight. I do a lot of low level GA sightseeing VFR flying exclusively in VR, and can't say enough how impressed I am. I don't see how they could possibly improve this even more in MSFS 2024. I am sure those who have criticised Asobo in the past for "one step forward, two steps back" style of development, will finally agree this is not only a step forward, but a huge leap forward without the 2 steps backwards, the result of 3 years of hard work of professionals. Merci encore une fois!

Seems like SU 15 is a monster update, with the improved performance and the Working Title G3X!

I was thinking the same thing. For decades, performance was always the biggest complaint among flight simmers. Today, however, performance is no longer an insurmountable bottleneck. Or, in my case, I have to deliberately lower fps so my TV display can keep pace with the sim's accelerated output. I'm fortunate to own a high-end computer. So I suspect that those with mid-level machines will appreciate a goosed-up SU15 and MSFS2024 even more!

How long will it take this time until we realize that the performance gains were simply achieved by (another) downgrade of visuals? 🤣 sorry, slightly pessimistic due to the experience since release...

Yeah I am also sceptical of this. Asobo doesn't have a great track record here. I only had time for one flight and sadly was IFR conditions the whole time so didn't really get to look out and see the visuals.

It sure felt smoother though.

I guess time will tell if if the performance has been achieved by reducing graphical quality just like they have done in the past.

@turbomax @David Mills

They CAN yet improve performance even more in MSFS 2024, and they will.

Firstly there are lots of optimisations still to be looked at.  DX12 shows barely any performance improvement currently.  It should!  Other titles gain performance with DX12, some upto 40%.

Also, they are working on further multi-threading for 2024, unloading the main thread, which as we know, is one of the main causes of performance degradation in the sim when it hits 100%.

Then there is DirectStorage, which is available for games, and loads straight to the GPU while bypassing the CPU and taking more load off.

A lot of this will require hard work and is not easy technically, but it can be looked at, and implemented by a determined team.

Still, what we have is very good now.  I can report, apart from the odd scenery loading stutter, I am also seeing very smooth performance at 4k ultra settings, LODs at 200. I am holding 60 fps. It is excellent!

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
