Sounds promising. I'll wait for the live system but this all sounds encouraging.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Wonder if we even need MSFS 2024 anymore 😁

Hehe. These SU15 improvements and then SU16, the amazing Fenix Block 2 update, the coming birds like PMDG 777, iniBuilds A350/A380, FBW A380, and aircraft devs as a whole really getting going on their 2nd/3rd/etc tries and getting more experienced on developing for the platform, etc etc.. MSFS 2020 does indeed seems to be settling itself in a great place prior to MSFS 2024 dropping and shaking up the world again 🙂 ... but it will be an easier transition to 2024 for add-ons devs I think as opposed to learning everything anew as they had to with v2020.

Exciting times indeed.

I wonder if DX 12 has improved...or if any changes were made to it.

Smooth as Butter at my End (7900X3D and 4090). Really more smooth even if I crank up the Settings. TLOD 300 and great stability, FPS and Smoothnes even on ground while taxiing.

NOTE: This is in VR with Varjo Aero and PPD set to 37 (which is really a lots of pixels)

And you were NOT getting this type of smoothness before SU15 Beta?

Well I got a low end I7 7 series with a 1070 and yes….much smoother than before.  Tested the 747 and noticeably improved.

What's interesting is that some users have reported the return of the DX12-related "broken ground textures at airports"-issue. I recall that this was a huge deal in SU10, with the new memory improvements - and what lead to a significant nerfing of the initial excellent performance.

Also, albeit somewhat unrelated, I read a comment by Matt Nischan over on the official forums

Quote

As explained by Seb in the Dev Q&A, the new memory management improvements specific to SU15 have the effect of reducing the CPU load while things are allocated, as a stark example (though allocations are happening constantly), when loading or swapping out scenery objects, say, on an approach when different LODs start to come into the view area. This has the effect of making the frame times better and stutters potentially much fewer, but the total memory load is not necessarily impacted by this kind of change.

The beta install took forever, but I'm currently airbourne over Sydney in the RV-14. Initial impressions is like others have mentioned: smooth!! This is with all settings ultra, DX12, TLOD400 OLOD200 & supersampled resolution of 6144x3240. CPU & GPU utilization seems similar to pre-beta (CPU 90-100% and GPU around 20% on my system).

EDIT: Forgot to mention - fps seems about the same as before - but the sim does seem more fluid. These things can be subjective of course!

Remembering we (some) got a performance reduction with SU14, I'm therefore hoping we're at least back to pre-SU14 levels, obviously better still would be great.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Okay, all these joyous reports have me tempted to dive into another beta but....my Xbox Insider app needs updating, sigh.

It's....it's....doing....something.....

Jeez, just how clunky can you make something?

Good news. It's always annoying to download content at 1-3 Mbps after the last four/five WU/SU releases.

No. I got stutters when taxIing AT GROUND and TLOD 300 was not possible in VR without tanking FPS.
