Hello everyone, and thank you again for this great app!

I was wondering if it's possible to reduce the TLOD when flying over water? A bit like night mode, which halves the TLOD.

This would be useful for transatlantic flights, for example, as I use a TLOD of 400; reducing it to 50 during the Atlantic crossing would be ideal.

So, my question is simple: is this technically possible?

Have a good day

Per your PM, you have now resolved this with a reboot.

To solve my microstutters I tried to use a maximum fps setting (sim settings) today and autofps recommended me to select fps cap mode. Is it generally recommended to use fps cap mode everytime you set a maximum framerate? Also, with fps cap mode, it wasn't possible for me to deactivate the TLOD max extra option, is that a feature? I would prefer to stay with my TLOD max and allowing a bit a relief for my cpu.

Yes it is possible by estimating from AGL ~= MSL but it doesn't notably reduce system load, if that is what you are after, because there is nothing much to draw anyway.

eg. here is over water at TLOD 400 then at TLOD 50 and apart from slightly higher FPS with the latter, the system load is pretty similar.

If you are just using an FPS cap as a ceiling and intend to normally run your system well under that, then use FPS Sensitivity instead and make sure your target FPS is at least 15% below the FPS cap for the automation to work correctly.

However, if you have set an FPS cap and intend for MSFS to run at that cap all the time, then yes you should be using FPS Cap mode which will do everything it can to maintain that FPS Cap. While it is not possible to deactivate TLOD Max extra due to the way it works in with the automation in this mode, you can achieve the equivalent of what you desire by simply halving the TLOD Max you want to end up with so that when it is doubled you go no more than that maximum. eg. if you want a maximum TLOD of 400, set TLOD Top Min as 200 with 2X multiplier gives a max of the 400 you desire.

Thank you. I plan to run the PC at the fps cap. If I use the fps cap mode, should I set the fps targets both in autofps and in sim to that fps cap or a few fps below the cap?

Set them to the same FPS.

And is it okay to set the cap in NCP via the program settings?

Yes, or alternatively in-game in MSFS, which IMO yields more consistent results. Just be aware that the MSFS maximum frame rate is set in native frame rate, ie. before any FG multiplier is applied.

I have a question.

I put the tool into test mode.

I'm not getting any CPU usage readings. Do I need to install or start another program?

I'd also like to thank you for your program, which you keep improving.

Without this tool, MSFS 2024 wouldn't be at this level.

The method the app uses to get CPU data does not work on all PCs unfortunately. The log file should have a line showing that it tried and failed at setting this up.

I initially put it in the app as I was hoping that some of the stats could be used to predict when FPS would drop, but that never bore fruit so I didn't take it any further. I will put a note in the readme to advise that this feature may not work for everyone.

Hi, long time user, first time poster. Thanks for this essential very app. I recently upgraded my monitor to an LG 120Hz, 4K. I previously had an ancient Samsung 60Hz. For the App I use the FPS Sensitivity Mode with a Target of 60 (59 with prev. monitor), Checked Extra TLOD Base, TLOD Base of 100 @1000', TLOD Top of 300 @2000', Auto OLOD checked with a OLOD Base of 100 @ 2000', OLOD Top 20 @ 10000' , RTSS external is set at 60 (59 with prev. monitor). MSFS2024 settings are FG on x2, Dynamic Settings at 30. Do I need to have the In-game Dynamic Settings ON? Probably nothing to do with that but I notice the Sim value FPS goes down to around 40 when FG is Not Active, but back up to 60 when FG is Active. Out of curiosity, is this normal?  I have never really noticed this until now.

If by saying RTSS external being set to 60 means that you have set an FPS cap there of 60 FPS then I am surprised the app is working for you in FPS Sensitivity mode with a target FPS of 60 too because that mode required FPS to go over your target FPS for TLOD to ever increase. If that is the case, you should instead be using FPS Cap mode with pretty much the same other AutoFPS settings.

It is up to you whether you use dynamic settings, but if you do I suggest you set your FPS cap in game in MSFS rather than with RTSS by setting Max Frame Rate to 30 and leave Dynamic Settings Target Frame Rate at 30, as Dynamic Settings works much more predictably this way.

Re FPS decreasing when FG is not active, yes this it totally normal and is the way FG works regardless of whether you are running AutoFPS. When using FG, AutoFPS will only every do its automation when FG is active, so it matters not that the FPS drops below target FPS when FG is inactive.

Thanks for the fast reply! I will try running FPS Cap with your suggestions. With regard to the FPS decrease I did a little googling and was wondering if this could be a contributing factor as well:

Frame Generation Inactivity: When MSFS loses "true" window focus (e.g., when interacting with menu overlays or using an external application), MSFS Frame Generation (FG) often shuts down, reducing FPS by half or more.
