PMDG 777 MSFS FIRST LOOK

I'm sure it will be loved and a big success for PMDG, but does the gear animation look "low fps and clunky" - in the similar way (albeit to a lesser extent) to the ground services, cabin door animations etc on the 737?

Maybe recording from a theatre screen doesn't help, and it may be me due to all the times I've cringed watching the low-fi animations of the 737!

I noticed it too. I also noticed the sunlight seeping through each cabin row panels. However, with that said, it's not like you're ever looking at it this closely while flying...

PMDG gave us a bone to chew at, that's what we're doing!

Its no wonder this once-awesome flightsim website has become what it is

Can't agree with that. If you think it's negative about PMDG here, have a read of some of the top-rated comments on Reddit, then ask yourself why Avsim has a reputation for defending PMDG (among other comments regularly thrown at it).

Other social media sites also have a much more mixed opinion on PMDG products.

At least any criticism on here is more likely to be constructive and allowed to remain unlike PMDG's own forums.

The gear animation looked fine to me.

Common sense is finally starting to prevail over there. But yeah the hate over there is much worse than it is here.

I seriously question the eyesight of anyone who thinks this is a direct port of P3D though - the model and textures are very clearly different. The "scratches being in the same place" is completely irrelevant because they are working off the same real airplane and reference material that they did before - of course they are still modeling the scratches in the same location. I think some of the concerns are being drawn from a very poor decision to use maximum/100%/non-directional lighting in much of the trailer which causes things to look cartoonish because that's not how light works in real life. With directional lighting and shadows things tend to look much more realistic. So far all of the comments I've seen from people at FSWeekend have said that the textures look quite good in person.

So far the only warranted criticism I’ve seen on various site to include PMDG own forum is the cockpit textures looking cartoonish which I agree with. Even RSR replied that they are painted flat and the video does not show how they really look. I am hoping he is right though I would think they would get a video to show how they really are by using different lighting.

Time will tell, but for the moment I will wait and see which option is better.won't be the one to buy on day 1 from either of them.

Both PMDG and FF are making their product for entertaining 🙂

So is the FBW A32nx in MSFS. They are also showcasing a A380 for Free but I say it should be donateware. People want to support Freeware buy them a coffee or give them a tip from time to time.

But question is:

Name me one developer out there that makes boeings better than PMDG

@JBDB-MD80

Last I check FBW A32nx are Airbus they are not boeings.

Anglo77 was not speaking of Freeware Aircraft in general. He gave you one and now you want to change it to something else because he was right. There is no other aircraft in the sim world who has a stronger challenge to PMDG aircraft other than the Zibo mod and FF upcoming releases. Within MSFS, PMDG as a virtual monopoly on the market when it comes to study level aircraft. Outside of that world, it's a different story.

Last I checked Zibo and FBW use assets from the base sim and can not be sold "publicly for money". They are open source projects

So they are, but does not stop them from be the best at what they do and offer the things that PMDG won't or slow at delivering and that's  what most users want like a fully functional EFB or mabe a payware variant of the 757 or 767. It alway a business decision that gets in the way of what giving the users what they want which is why I left FSX. For most user this is hobby and a not business so I go where the developers will support what I want in this hobby, not listen to those using their business as an excuse.
