Stutters with the new rig…

Others might very well disagree with me here, but I don't think it's possible to get completely rid of micro-stutters. I've grown so accustomed to them at this stage that I hardly notice them.

Depends what you mean by micro-stutters.  My Frame Times are completely smooth with no discernible stutters anywhere.  I am using AutoFPS

Same here, no stutters at all. I also use Auto FPS 4.2

Do you have rolling cache turned on? If so, try a test with it off. That was a huge stutter problem for me (and others). Many say it causes no issues for them. My bandwidth is such that I haven't had any issue not using it. FS2020 is odd in that there seems to be a number of things that some can't do without issues while it doesn't affect others. Even with high level hardware.

I have tested it on and off. Don't really see a big difference.

It could be the case. I have tried everything, so thanks for the help. I appreciate all the help everyone have given me. I did switch servers to the Northern Europe one (as opposed to the West Coast server) and that seemed to help a bit. At one point I was able to have zero stutters, but maybe with this build it isn't possible. One thing though...the stutters appear to happen at the same place.

I have no stutters at all, i'm not using Auto FPS, Dynamic LOD or other performance programs, but I use FS Traffic for AI, no Live Traffic, that helps I think.

I am getting stutters without AI traffic, and they are worse with FSLTL + AIG.

That'll certainly help. I would probably be pretty stutter-free without AI traffic (currently AIG set at 50%). In remote areas it's of course butter smooth with close to zero frame time variance.

Rob - if this has crept up on you after a stutter-free build then it does sound like it could be an issue with the rolling cache. I know you tried this already but maybe try turning it off again. Then quit MSFS and reboot the PC and then try again with the rolling cache still off.

Agreed.  I don't use Auto FPS and have a stutter free smooth experience in MSFS2020 including on approach to complex airports. With FG enabled and mostly ultra preset I have FPS capped to 50 in RTSS and FPS capped to monitor refresh rate of 50 in NCP (a recent change down from 60 for both settings). Now I have to keep TLOD set to a modest level (120) and traffic to about 30% to achieve this with my 9900KF - although I do have 4090.  But if I set TLOD to 50 on the ground I only gain 1 or 2 FPS maybe a bit more if I reduce clouds from ultra to high on a cloudy day.  At the other end FPS will drop markedly if I set TLOD to high levels at altitude so I leave it at 120.  The gain in visuals is certainly there with high TLOD but you have to look for it so overall I don't miss it.  The other thing I have come across recently is the importance of not maxing out you VRAM if you want to avoid stutters - but the OP has a 4090 so that should not be part of his issue.

My brother had an issue with low performance on a computer that was recently upgraded. The solution was to install the latest chipset drivers for the motherboard, and everything was fixed.
Probably obscure, but very easy to do and check off the list.

Did you

1 Go through your bios and ensure your running at optimum settings

2 As republic mentioned above .. install the latest chipset drivers for the Operating System

3 Since you have a dual CCX chip did you Properly set up the OS power settings and the Game bar so it detects the sim and correctly assigns the CCX with the VCache to the sim ?

Thanks guys, i will try your suggestions today. FYI i got a solid 60fps (locked by ncp) and everything seems very smooth, just with these stutters that appear to be happening at exactly the same places, even without AI traffic.

I'm sure you'll get there eventually Rob - with your hardware it should be possible. Perhaps not 100% stutter-free, but close.

Interestingly I just re-entered the SU15 beta today, and the departure in inibuilds A300 was ultra-smooth (from ENGM). Constant frame times, no micro-stutters, just pure bliss. Last night on SU14 things were always a bit jerky/choppy, just not the smoothness I'm used to.

Disclaimer: I'm not using AI traffic for this flight, wanted to keep things simple as I'm currently testing the new autoTLOD feature in the latest AutoFPS test build.

I see there is an AMD chipset driver update, so today i will go through all the motherboard drivers and get them up to date. I also went back to SU14 and i had way more serious stutters, so they have made a lot of progress with SU15. For the record, my community folder is empty except for the Black Square Caravan. I did try the stock Caravan but same issue with stutters. I also tried Process Lasso, turning off the non cache cores. Still see the same issue.

I appreciate all the help guys.

Just had the smoothest flight into Heathrow so far in the sim. SU15 beta, FPS RTSS-locked to 65 in front edge sync, highly recommended.

I also recommend using the RTSS overlay and monitor the frame time graph when stutters occur. This will give some indication of how bad the stutters are (frame time spikes) and also of course how the FPS changes. In the screenshot below the frame time graph is pretty much flat, apart from a few tiny spikes. Note: some spikes are common and IMO unavoidable e.g. when changing between views.

I did a CapFrameX capture of the approach which looks very promising. I'll post that in the AutoFPS thread.

Well that did it! I was able to get very smooth frames even with AIG loaded at LAX. Thanks buddy!

Thanks for the help everyone. Really appreciate it.
