I use historical weather all the time now. No more flying on the other side of the world and having coastal fog and low temperatures in the middle of the afternoon.

How is it working?

I am. Works great. I can even upload the historical data to Simbrief and the simbrief stuff (metars, weather radar, sigmets, winds aloft) adapts perfectly to it for flight planning. Finally being able to experience a hot asian afternoon or a cold american night in MSFS is great.

I haven't used anything else than historical weather since I have ASFS. It works as to be expected. Set the time and date in the sim and ASFS automatically loads in the weather of that date and time. No more blizzards in summer and nighttime temperatures at noon. Finally. And it integrates fine with Simbrief and FSHud.

rolls eyes, and just from one flight you make your conclusions?

With all due respect, you didn’t roll your eyes at posters who concluded it was amazing from a single (or limited) flight. Why didn’t you apply the same standard to those with views inline with your own?

I’ve bought AS, but doubt I’ll use historical much. Perhaps to check out some really interesting weather.

That’s quite impressive. One thing is certain, AS seems extremely versatile and feature-rich compared to REX.

I mainly fly with historical weather - I've set up some multiplayer flights with some friends and we all set the weather to the same date and fly the flight, usually an IFR approach to somewhere.  Just finished a flight from KLIT to KAFW which has a bunch of Tstorms active. Wind, rain, thunder & lightning - gotta love it. And yes, it's far superior to MSFS for my type of flying.

I will have to try that, I love thunder storms and lightning. ( not in real life)

Great site. Sometimes I write the metar down and use it later in historical weather. Handy!

The maker of this video has a different opinion. It is remarkable that the flights over Europe he is showing are pretty much off compared to RL weather, where in the USA ASFS is pretty accurate.

I think this video pretty much shows what can be expected from ASFS if compared to the MSFS current live weather representation and also shows the weather "tools" (historical, turbulence, cloud effects) that clearly MSFS either does not have or are not working right. As always, everything has its pros and cons, and it's up to people to decide wether to purchase ASFS or not at this time.

Tomorrow, I’ll find some insane weather to test the limits of AS. Keep forgetting that site, it’s awesome.

C152 in a cumulonimbus perhaps?

People seem to miss the true purpose of historical weather - asobo developers included. It's not really about finding a particular time and place for exotic conditions. Perhaps the term "historical" is a misnomer that throws them off. Maybe "synchronised weather" would have been a better term.

At least so that people who are less familiar with aviation could realise that shifting the time scale changes not only the visuals and light. Every student pilot could tell you after a couple of flights at what time of the day you can expect higher likelihood  of choppiness and when things are likely to go smoother - and that's just one aspect of weather that's time dependent.

Without  historical weather you are either bound to never touch the time scale, or compromise on realism.

Active Sky uses model data as well; they've mentioned both GFS and grib data.  Doesn't look like they just use METAR.

Yes. The winds aloft come from (most likely) the GFS grib. They do not come from METAR.
