A good example is City Update 6. Apart from a few (bizarre) anomalies the PG quality is excellent. If the TLOD is high enough, and the connection to MSFS servers is good enough.

Been reading about 3D Gaussian splatting as a better, fast rendering, alternative.  Don't know enough about it though.  Implementations I've seen seem to rely on NVidia CUDA so not sure how that affects Dx11/Dx12 rendering.

If the city you live in does not have PG then click on your coordinates in google maps and paste them into the search window of MSFS map page. Fly there in the drone and you may be surprised how your own house looks. You would probably never recognize it.

My house: PG off and it looks like a trailer from a trailer park. PG on and it looks like my house. 99.9% of the time I fly with PG on!

I meant click on google maps exatly right on your own house and use that for your MSFS departure point. Freeze the flight, get in the drone and fly down to the street where you live. At street level. See your house.

From me it gets a bad rap because KDFW is unusable with PG turned on... been like that for more than a year.

I dont understand how people fly with it OFF. When its off I notice it right away. I was flying into KLAS recently and its not like the mountains and canyons around are expected to be crisp but it literally looked like I was back in FS2004. I then realized that my Photogrammetry had been switched off in the settings.. That is my only gripe about PG is that because of Microsoft's trash servers I have to pause my flight to turn it back on which can be inconvenient on Vatsim and disrupt other traffic.

Haha. I wondered if someone would raise that. I've always used 'rap'  but have seen 'rep' used from time to time. But in this case I think @Mace is correct. The following is from Gemini AI. I have checked Miriams-Webster and that agrees too.

Reminds me of some Hollywood action flick I saw back when I still watched that stuff. There's a smart cop/dumb cop thing going on - dumb cop says something dumb, smart cop corrects him, dumb cop sneers something like "ha, listen to dictionary boy!" and smart cop replies "I think you mean thesaurus boy". Dumb cop of course has no idea what smart is talking about.

What on Earth are you on about? I fly with PG disabled all the time, and the scenery definitely does not look anything like as bad as it does in FS2004 The terrain mesh of mountains and canyons is very well defined in autogen mode.

Different strokes for different folks then. Looks like word not allowed to me with PG off  😂  but I'm glad it works for you with it off. 

Maybe, but your "FS2004" comment makes no sense.

PG off: the world appears to me sort of like a Dali painting.

PG on looks so much better in this video to my eyes...

 

Nice video, but I had difficulty understanding some of the commentary because of the heavy accent. (This is not uncommon for me with flight sim videos; I don't know if others have this problem).
