We all have this bug but it really isn't a show stopper or big deal at all.  It has been fixed in the SU15 beta which should be available to everyone in 5 days time 🤞 so probably not worth worrying about.

A lot of newcomers seem to expect flight simulators to be perfect out of the box, but in reality they are developing, have been developing for years and will continue to develop for years into the future (hopefully).  No flight simulator is, or will ever be perfect - even the real world is nowhere near perfect 😀.

Well firstly it's been a nuisance for months now, in what is a very basic bit of code of which a simple hotfix could easily of been released. You're right though it's not a show stopper, but there's no doubting it's annoyance.

Secondly yes you are correct this is a simulation that's in constant development, but that shouldn't mean simple issues like this are allowed to enter the public domain without at the very least one person on the inside of the development team saying "oh hang on we've introduced a Windowed bug, best spend a coffee break fixing that".

It's yet again an example of poor practice standards associated with this team of developers, no it's not a big issue but it is a simple one that could've and should've been rectified long ago.

AND there is more (bugs)

The reason why I asked this question was because I had another problem with flight plans and wondered if the two were related and it now seems, strangely,  they are. Read on.

I have a flight plan I created out of KABQ (Albuquerque) which has 6 runways I think. I used Little Navmap to create it.

I set the departure runway as 03 in the flight plan yet every time I loaded the flight plan in MSFS it would start the flight at runway 26.

I created a number of new flight plans from KABQ to other destinations and the same thing happened. I posted a thread in the LNM forum and the author (I think) tried heaps, unsuccessfully,  to work it out.

Now when I press Alt + Enter BEFORE I load the flight plan (for full screen) it starts correctly at runway 03.

What do you think of that?

I am on the latest beta and mine sometimes still starts non-fullscreen unfortunately.  Other titles are also doing this now that used to be fine a while ago, so I suspect a windows update.

While it is a minor annoyance, I am fed up with chasing it so I just alt-enter.  It takes just a second.

Just for the record, if you have a freeware or payware windows search app, then  finding files takes seconds instead of minutes. They can search a 1TB drive for a file in maybe 15 seconds. The one I have (payware Ultra File Search) does not index the files, so there's 0 overhead unless you actually boot it up to do a search. I bought it 10 years ago (windows 7) and still works perfect in Win11. I expect it to last another 5 years at least. It's now $25, and is not a subscription. License is forever. Freeware utilities are almost as good. They're all far superior to searching with Windows.

Here's a file finder I've been using for a long time. Its's called "Everything". It'll find any file in a flash and it's free:

To me it IS an issue as there appears to be a link between full screen mode and MSFS starting on the planned runway of a flight plan especially with departure KABQ and runway 03.

Fow many days I could not work out why my flight plan started at runway 26 when I had selected runway 03 for departure.

I have now found that when in window mode the problem exists but when I go to fullscreen (alt + enter) BEFORE I load the flight plan it starts at the correct runway ie 03.

I now have to get used to always pressing alt + enter before loading that flight plan (and possibly every time I start MSFS - windowed mode doesn't worry me much)

I personally prefer any sim to start in windowed mode and then use Alt-Enter

Yes I could live with that if the documentation stated that AND the Options menu for screen explained that instead of the user thinking that he had set fullscreen 'in concrete'. The user has to know what it expect. Maybe that is too big an ask for MSFS.
