MS' AI will be inside Minecraft, and other Xbox, PC Games

During the event, Microsoft showcased one of these new integrations. Microsoft Copilot will be embedded directly in video games, starting with Minecraft. Players will be able to use natural language to ask questions like "How do I craft a sword?" and the Copilot will search your chests and inventories for the necessary materials, or guide you to them if you don't have them. It will also explain how to craft the item, and so on, eliminating the need to alt tab and read a website for Minecraft guides like ours (RIP Windows Central).

Either way, the convenience of simply being able to ask your video games how to kill a boss or how to find the secrets in a specific area and so on will fundamentally change how games are made, similarly to how internet discussions and websites have in the past.

Notice how natural the AI sounds in the demo above!

Gotta wonder if this will be integrated into 2024 ATC! 🙂

I mean, Windows already has an AI called copilot, it would fit nicely in the new sim. LOL

P.S.: I've been using it for a couple of months and It's nice actually.

P.S.2: I don't think it means RIP Windows Central, the devs won't make/write all tutorials, I believe the co-pilot will look for them on the internet. Gamepedias and sites like windows central will probably be used as a source for the AI.

Pretty sure this is getting embedded in the default atc for MSFS 2024. AI and machine learning will be used extensively. This is pretty much confirmed in the FAQ for MSFS 2024. I also have a feeling that they might move the entire weather rendering pipeline to the cloud just like they did in Sea of Thieves for ocean. This will give us very detailed and realistic looking cloud shapes.

I was really surprised in the last developer stream where they said they were hiring a team of artists to correct the shallow water maps and it was going to take 5 people and 2 years (Around 11.3 man years) to correct the maps.

It seems like a perfect task for an AI, maybe do 100 man hours of showing examples for training the AI then let it loose on all the shallow water maps.

I'm sure it must be more complicated than what I'm aware of, but it seems like the perfect task for an AI to complete.

I'm curious to see how they plan to incorporate more AI technologies into the development of the sim.

An AI to complete the game for you? Possibly the worst idea ive heard in a while.

I felt exactly the same way (that surely it’s a job for AI) and then thought, “well they’re clever computer boffins so they must know something I don’t”.

I know that’s not always a good way to view things you don’t understand but I don’t know anything about computers and AI really,

Could be great for flightsim though, especially if Microsoft are going to continue to be so funny about connecting things like simconnect and navigraph etc to the Xbox.

Can you get me the weather and runway in use  for x

whats the frequency for y

show me the approach chart for xxxx

How long have I been asleep for?

Much like being a real captain. Sit back, big picture thinking, manage the show, maximise your capacity. Don’t get focused or target fixation on minutiae and nitty gritty.

Mind you, if it works really well Airbus or less likely Boeing will eventually likely use it to try to get rid of multi crew Aircraft IRL and make them single pilot, which quite frankly would be awful.

That is not what you read

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

This confirms AI ATC in FS2024.

The fact that it is called copilot and this in MS Flight Simulator, even blind Freddy can join the dots.

The only question is how much AI will be possible. It would be good to call up the ground staff, call up the cabin crew or have random conversations with first officer.

First officer (AI) should be capable of everything including checklists, flying, talking to other AI (ATC) etc. Really good for long haul flights. Just tell the first officer you are going to get some sleep, all yours buddy.
