City Update 7

Featured Replies

Hi, everyone,

I have a question: have your MSFS screen changed to the Caribbean update?

The Volocopter one has disappeared.

Thank you in advance.

Just did a circuit over Barcelona in the Fenix, looks beautiful! Heading over to Madrid, I’m sure it’ll look great as well.  Quite amazing that we get all these world and city updates for free 😁 🙏

That's weird. I've updated the City Update VII yesterday, and now the update it appears again in Content Manager to download... Besides the Caribbean Screen, of course!

Something must be wrong.

Just completed a short hop from Bastia to Nice runway 22R in the Fenix with VR and BATC. Weather and lighting conditions looked incredibly realistic. The view towards Nice on final is just spectacular now with photogrammetry. BATC worked pretty well too (apart from the taxiing to the gate). This sim can be absolutely amazing when everything works.

Orbx ESSB ad-on give much better qualtiy to Stockholm it's like night and day IMO.

I love flying into Nice for the curved approach tracking the bay/ Promenade d’anglais to 22R/L

I love that approach too, especially having experienced it twice IRL (as an airline passenger).

As for the Nice and Monaco updates, I was a little underwhelmed with it compared to the freeware PG add-ons (from thalixte) I had used up till now, having expected and improved look. Of course, it allows me to delete several gigs of add-ons, so that's good, but the updates are still plagued by the melted buildings and globular trees issues we're all used to.

I was disappointed, for instance, that the World War I memorial in Nice isn't represented well at all:

Monaco's Musée Océanographique is ok from about 1km away but that's about as close as I'd want to get:

Closer, and things break down:

The Stade Louis II and palace are ok though:

Of course, I'm not supposed to get this close to La Rascasse!😊:

I'm maybe expecting too much or perhaps I need to up the LOD settings? Of those who are impressed by those areas now, what LOD setting are you using? I've only looked at those areas using the drone cam for now, so FPS isn't an issue as far as simply seeing how could they can look.

Does it add custom buildings as well? Which works well with CU7? Never flown to Stockholm in the sim, maybe now’s a good time.

I've experimented a lot with TLOD and PG and find that 200+ is required for nearby buildings+objects to be rendered fully.

Stockholm is absolute bad. Is the're a way to uninstall just the city update of Stockholm or do I have to live with this abomination. I've ORBX Bromma installed so that's maybe why I lack buildings in many places?

Come here you big, beautiful cup of coffee and lie to me about how much we’re going to get done today.

Agreed.  Unfortunately, the ORBX ESSB scenery, at least for me, is a frame rate destroyer.  I can't seem to find the settings sweet spot for this airport to give me anything decent when flying the Asobo ATR.

I'd love to know if there's a way to remove the ORBX city scenery that came with ESSB and try the new one that came with the update.

This I wrote 3 years ago, is my assumption that's the business case of ASOBO MS. A Plattform for all things simulated in real world environment.

They have the data and already the base for this.

As per above screenshots, you can see things really fall apart up close. It's a long way from being a suitable base for ground vehicle simulation imo.

Hmmmm, so those screenshots of mine at 400 really should be a bit better at least. I did get a low bandwidth warning a minute or two later so I wonder if perhaps that was a delayed message and the sim was already struggling before it told me. 🤔

I'll need to try again and see what it looks like when I don't get a warning.
