I've ORBX Bromma installed so that's maybe why I lack buildings in many places? This not what I see following the cities update. Stockholm looks far better on my so-so system. It looks terrible at ground level, so I'm not sure why MSFS would make a great base for other ground based simulators?

May 30, 20242 yr I flew the drone camera into some of the homes around Stockholm and they weren't even furnished.

Of course, it allows me to delete several gigs of add-ons, so that's good, but the updates are still plagued by the melted buildings and globular trees issues we're all used to. I was disappointed, for instance, that the World War I memorial in Nice isn't represented well at all: Finally got round to having a go on MSFS yesterday and … I concur. Also it displaced the add-on LFMN which is normal behaviour but irritating: surely it’s not beyond the wit of man to code the scenery installer/content manager so that it presents users with a clear list of what it proposes to override and lets people select which bits they’d prefer to keep. May 30, 20242 yr About Nice in particular, since it's my home city: last time I used the freeware photogrammetry addon for Nice (granted, it was at least one year ago), the buildings were also a bit melted. Colors were a bit better, but the area coverage was extremely small. The City Update 7 coverage is way larger, it goes much farther north, and as a consequence: - the whole city surface is covered, unlike the freeware addon which stopped like one or two kilometers away from the sea... - the surrounding villages are covered as well - the mesh for the hills is much better You just need to ensure you don't have any conflict from any other local scenery. From my side, I'm very happy with this City Update 7. I can finally see my home in photogrammetry in the sim. I can also see the homes of my brother and a friend which are living in the villages north of Nice, on the northern hills. Yes the photogrammetry models are UGLY when seen from close, but they look very good from a close-enough distance. Helicopter flghts are superb. Landing the helicopter near the house is not, but I can live with this. At least now the houses are not stupidly over sized (like one story too much) like the default autogen. May 30, 20242 yr Love this city update, Monaco and Stockholm are really great new additions, think the others (Barcelona Madrid Nice etc) are just updates and slight expansions? The Sweden bush trip was so disappointing when you took off from Arlanda and arrived into Stockholm from the north and it was all green and autogen, now it looks fantastic. Agreed that the new photogrammetry looks much better from the beginning with better water masking and showing marinas and boats etc whereas previously it got maybe fixed later or you had to download a mod for it. Still hoping for that missing Hawaii photogrammetry Jorg mentioned a while ago and maybe some more in bigger European cities that don’t have it yet like Dublin or edinburgh and Glasgow or famous scenic areas like sorento and Amalfi coast or Sicily around Taormina etc etc etc Obviously huge areas of the world aren’t in photogrammetry yet or covered in world updates but it think the dev livestreams have talked a lot about the difficulties and limitations MS/asobo etc have with their present system for getting better scenery in the sim in many countries. I think the WU and CU are some of my favourite things in the sim, it’s been great seeing how many there are and MS/asobos continued commitment to the sim and improving what it all looks like! Ah! and submarines hahahah (like FSX-P3D). I suggested roughly the same thing years ago, also there should be a collaboration between Rockstar and Asobo for GTA VII.
May 30, 20242 yr I’ve only had time to look at Nice / Monaco, but WOW! It’s huge! And great quality (from min 500ft agl). Was getting a bit jaded about City Updates, but if they can make future ones the same sort of size and quality, with the same small disk footprint, I’m all in. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
