June 8, 20242 yr Did a small circuit in the Waco CG-4 and really like it! Very nicely modelled, including the flight dynamics, which was a surprise to me! For the promotional sale price it's an even better purchase. Ah!!! Great!!! June 9, 20242 yr I stumbled on this Aviation Classic magazine, Issue 22, that is jam packed with interesting stories and great photos of the DC-3, C-47 Skytrain and useful info. Try to find a downloadable copy and read. I found mine at scribd.com. This is a special issue featuring the DC-3/C-47 Skytrain. Regards, RayM Edited June 9, 20242 yr by raymar When Pigs Fly . June 9, 20242 yr How is the C47 glider tower version operation at MSFS ?, I noticed you cannot set an airport for it at the Map
June 9, 20241 yr I can't set an airport for the Tow version either ... the "Fly Now" button is greyed out. The regular C-47 works fine. Tried with all community/mods disabled, but no joy. Looking at the map filters legend, I see there's an icon for showing "Glider friendly" airports. I went to a few known glider airfields in the UK, but none of them show that icon - could this be a clue?

Well, anyway, in the C47 Manual, page 27 onward you get the Automatic Pilot description. It's an historically accurate system, a "Gyro Pilot" that only helps keeping the aircraft stable, specially while cruising, and has no coupling functionality for a modern external device like a GPS, or any other navigation equipment. June 11, 20241 yr How does this compare to the Aeroplane Heaven model? June 12, 20241 yr It IS an Aeroplane Heaven model...the other half to the DC-3, so it's similar to the DC3 BEFORE the Duckworks improvement, plus Microsoft downgraded the sounds because they have a commercial agreement with a different company to do the sounds. Still it's well worth the price, especially as the money goes to the USO. I don't think you can fly the tug model yourself, the tug-pilot does that - you select the CG4 glider then select the C47 as the tug in the Launch Method menu. ...
