July 30, 20241 yr The program goes into an Orbx Central Library. When it is run, the program writes a folder into the MSFS Community folder. There is also the option in the program to "Remove from Sim", this deletes the folder in the Community folder and removes the product completely. Of course, not until MSFS is restarted and it is always good practice to delete any rolling cache and the scenery .dat files after making any changes. Edited July 30, 20241 yr by Reader

July 30, 20241 yr I think Orbx central wants to put it here, unless you tell it otherwise. From there you can make a shortcut to the exe file and place the shortcut somewhere more convenient. from then on, just click the shortcut to open the app. the .exe file is: MSFS Global Trees HD.exe C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Orbx Library\msfs\MSFS Global Trees HD\MSFS Global Trees HD.exe 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
July 30, 20241 yr The folder it dumps in community is something like this OrbxGlobalTreesHD. Not exactly the name, but close. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. They are only present when Photogrammetry is turned on. Here is the same location, first without PG and then with PG. The second one is atrocious. This happens in all locations. Anyone getting great looking trees with PG on?

It shows in my Community folder, AND it shows when I go to my ORBX Library on my C Drive. MSFS is installed on its own dedicated drive. I'm about to give up. I've installed, uninstalled, installed, uninstalled so many times. I am not a novice at this and I've been simming since the beginning. This program has me stumped! Perhaps I'll figure it out someday, but for now, I'm at a loss. I tried turning Photogrammetry OFF and reinstalled the Trees Program. I'm now getting the trees to show up (even Palm trees in Florida!). However, I want the program to work with Photogrammetry ON! So, what do I have to do to see all the trees with PG on? July 31, 20241 yr If you had Shift-Z Stats (flightsim.to) in community, then you could type Shift Z and readout the coordinates so we could start a flight exactly there to test. https://flightsim.to/file/16358/shift-z-stats Or you can make it readout digits for simrate, or alt, or hdg, or speed, or fps, etc. He made the same app for FSX, back in the day... Stan I have gone back to Rex Accuseason Advanced Edition to see if the problem is there as well. Unfortunately, my conclusion is that this is not a problem with the Orbx Trees addon, but rather with the sim's photogrammetry implementation. I took another set of pictures with the Orbx addon uninstalled and a standard installation of Accuseason. Without PG, it looked fine. With PG, it looked as above, but here is the picture I took:

July 31, 20241 yr There are enough red herrings here to fill a trawler. Not one of the MSFS vegetation addons causes the block shaped trees. They are photogrammetry and the only way to remove them is to switch off photogrammetry. There is no need to spend hours looking for another solution, there isn't one. The squared off and translucent trees are the result of there being two or more vegetation addons in the Community folder. If you think that you have removed all other addons and the trees are still squared off, then you are mistaken and you must find the other addon. You are looking for 10-asobo_species.xml This is straight from the developer: Quote There can be only one reason - the presence of a third-party mod for trees in the "Community" folder!!! This can be either a folder or a symbolic link containing a nested folder "vegetation" with the file 10-asobo_species.xml of a third-party mod for trees.

If you think that you have removed all other addons and the trees are still squared off, then you are mistaken and you must find the other addon. You are looking for 10-asobo_species.xml This is straight from the developer: 10-asobo_species.xml is in every tree size mod. It of course is also in the MSFS unmodified data. The mod tells the sim to use mod version of 10-asobo_species.xml instead of the asobo version 10-asobo_species.xml Open that file ( 10-asobo_species.xml ) and you will notice a min and a max number for every specie of tree, bush, or grass. MSFS will randomly pick a number between the min and max. The randomness is so that a forest of trees are not all the same exact height. I downloaded the tree size mod from flightsim.to in about 2 months after MSFS was first released. And used it ever since. However, upon the first test during the firt day, I saw that to me the trees were still too tall. So I went in changed every line's (that is to say every specie's) min and max, I took off about 1/3 of every number. And then replaced the mod's 10-asobo_species.xml with my own 10-asobo_species.xml. So that now the mod was virgin except for that one file. I fly almost every flight since then using it (hundreds of flights). I no longer use my modified mod. Because it does not reduce the number of trees, only their size. I use the Orbx mod to thin the herd of wild trees. They're too tall again but there aren't trees covering up the cities. Now Italy looks nice for instance! (Remember how everyone complained about the forest choking the cities when Asobo launched the Italy WU ? 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Closely related to melted buildings 🙂 Yep - pretty much the only issue I have with MSFS these days. Even when you are in an area where the buildings are ok, you can still find yourself faced with dozens of these green PG lumps (I call them 'uglifacts'), and the weird thing is that they can be distributed within perfectly reasonable trees as well. Sometimes they are more frequent as part of the usual server problems, but some places they just seem to be a permanent fixture (LA for example). Probably not a major issue for a lot of people but I like to fly very low and slow a lot of the time as I like to sight-see, so I notice them a lot. And no, I'm not going to turn PG off - it's still a 95/5 good/bad deal to my eyes so I'll live with the occasional faults. As to the Orbx trees, I might try it but I don't feel hugely compelled to do so. I only recently switched to Rex (could never get the advanced version to install, originally) from Bijan and I'm happy enough with it at the moment. As others have said, I don't feel Orbx is up to the job a lot of the time these days.
