I have been very impressed with the FlightFactor 777v2. FF has consistently updated the aircraft through the beta process. Performance is fantastic on my meager 2060 Super. Sounds are superb - Probabl

  • Hey - As of today, I'd go with Toliss.

Yes, this is the changelog I got after the update of my copy:

I have the same thing but it also still shows on my screen 2.0.24 beta

Where does it say it out of beta?

It doesn't. Not sure why he got confused.

I purchased the PMDG 77W and the FF777 v2 around the same time. Since then, I've completed over 30 flights with the former but only one with the latter. I'll give the FF777 another try tomorrow.

So, flight ended with a crash on approach (typical Art Controls Modified but this time with a thread error pop-up). Report was submitted and the plane is going back to the hangar for another couple months...

And how exactly is that FF's fault?

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

😏 I've read the latest RC2 is unstable... Could be Xp12'core fault?

Perhaps it’s not indeed, but frustrating nevertheless. This is a release candidate build, not some early beta version.

Tried FF777 for few flight, Normal flight is OK, the main let down for me now is the CDU can't be used on a touch screen properly.

However, the ECL--which is the charm point for 777 IMO  seems still a mess especially for non-normals, PMDG777 for P3D works much in logic although with a very old database version, not sure if they have updated it for MSFS version.

Still not sure if I'll try my company's 777 recurrent drill on FF777v2 or PMDG one on P3D...(btw I'm not rated on 777, but have access to the docs for the drill)

So I have done my recurrent drill.

ENG STARTER CUTOUT R, doesn't works as intended, it somehow prevents engine from start (dry start).

No ENG FIRE ON GROUND NNC... one of the main reason I bought new 777 is because PMDG777 for P3D is too old to include this checklist introduced in 2022

CABIN ALT AUTO fail works as intended. Although ECL still quite hard to work around.

No stabilizer runaway, there is jam but after fail both PCU, at cruising altitude speed up and down from 280 to 220 doesn't trigger the STABILIZER EICAS caution.

After fail both FMC, I can't access ALTN NAV RAD page, so gameover for a IMC condition. also no ALTN LEGS and ALTN PROG. Also the ECL not properly inhibit LDG ALT AUTO at the start but only after hit this step.

+Stall protection and recovery feels good.

ENG SURGE at TO did produce some nice cockpit effect.  after mem item to idle it continues and after going though flaps up result a engine fire, and even with []FIRE ENG, the ECL still also promote me a minor checklist of ELEC, make life quite harder....

As a comparison,  I tried same drill with PMDG777 for P3D:

No ENG START CUTOUT Fail.

No ENG FIRE ON GROUND as it's too old for that to be add.

CABIN ALT AUTO fail works as intended.

No Stabilizer failure at all.

Fail both FMC and the systems works as intended, the CDU LEGS with airport position kept really helps with SA, much easier to manage  than on 737.

Only able to set ENG FAIL at Vspeeds, but works flawlessly, the EICAS only promot ENG FAIL, no other minor issue to distract.

So it kinda realized my initial concern: it might have 1000+ failure, but how good is the actual execution...

To be fair it's still in BETA, so there is a lot can be improved, although personally I feel if they put this little effort into ECL which is the charmpoint of 777... I'm not super confident...

And I wonder how many will actually use or even know that stuff exists in the sim.

@C2615

I hope you could give them those feedbacks in the support-forum? As always, the expectation is to mention a clear source (FCOM) when something doesn‘t work as you think it should. And if you can provide a source, they seem very ready to fix it, since they are aiming for a super „study-level“ addon.

At the same time, it looks like you only picked up 0.1% of all features and reported here if their bahviour was like you think it should be or not. It‘s very difficult to base an opinion about the general quality of that addon based on such a small part of all features. Can I ask you: have you also tested all other features? Or why giving feedback to just those very limited ones, which I would think won‘t even get noticed by the majority of users. So I am still not sure how to interpret your feedback.

One thing is certain: they are still fixing a lot of issues right now, reason why it is still in beta. Apart from that, I cannot repeat enough that this addon has completely blown my mind like only the CL650 did (after having used almost every sim since 37 years) and we are speaking about the last 5% of things left needing improvements.

Normal flight goes almost fine, except some VNAV descend issue and small issues here and there. It's a great achievement, but you really won't notice much when things just...works... so I didn't report them loud.

Most of the problems have been reported to them.

The problem for FCOM and even AMM is it's a manual for how to operate, not how to build such system. For example there is a paragraph to tell the pilot there is a inhibit system on ECL, but exactly how it works, at what condition, what line of code been inhibited is not clear, but exactly how you execute these in your code greatly impact the feeling when you try it out.

And since you interact most failures with EICAS+ECL on a 777, if that doesn't feel right, nothing will.

We have tried to build some sub-system simulation tool for 737, and FCOM is the least usable manual for that purpose... But the access to more indepth material is very limited...

@C2615

Yeah, but I meant by refering to the FCOM you can show the devs when something isn’t working as it should. It’s up to them then to make it work as it should. Of course you won’t get all data telling you how to build the systems of a plane that costs 200 million, for a 80€-addon used in a desktop-sim 😉

This plane is simply already mindblowing. The things to add in my opinion are: wind-uplink and use of winds in the calculation of fuel etc., making the ALTN-page work and completing the HOLD-pages with fuel remaining etc. And also getting a performance-calcuation-tool (for take off and landing) that is more acurate. I do also hope that they will quickly implement a fully simulated 3D-weather-radar as soon as Laminar releases it. Others things in my opinion are less important and will/can still be improved or fixed in future. An addon is never ever finished 😊

I would have to say that this aircraft has gain a lot of respect from even from the most ardent textures critic fans due to it completeness in that area while having the most feature rich aircraft since the CL650.  They are really taken notice for what it has, at least from the positive aspect.
