It is fascinating, like time traveling. I saw it a few months ago, I’m subscribed to that account.

The juxtaposition of the two technologies fascinates me. Horse drawn carriages alongside combustion engine powered vehicles. A technological transition period.

I'm always amazed in these olden days films, how clean the streets and pavements are compared to now, and how smartly people dressed, even poorer people.

Woody Allen made a film called Zelig. A person watching several old videos like this from all around the world, came to realize that he was seeing someone standing in the background in all of them. Always the same person. It was of course Zelig (played by Woody).

This is from the movie. He's everywhere, in all the old newsreels from decades ago!

Fascinating indeed.

One remarkable detail i noticed is that no one is looking on his phone.

Maybe it's an advertisement for Morris autos.  The horse drawn wagons are there to illustrate the old fashioned competition. 🙂

Considering that horses shared the streets and roads as well, it's a bloody miracle that the streets and pavements are so clean! 😊

The streets seem so smooth. They had blacktop back then?

Perhaps Macadam paving? Here's an interesting factoid: most of the minor streets and roads in Arkansas are macadam based. Only major streets and highways are asphalt!

Macadam | Paving, Asphalt & Gravel | Britannica

Quote

macadam, form of pavement invented by John McAdam of Scotland in the 18th century. McAdam’s road cross section was composed of a compacted subgrade of crushed granite or greenstone designed to support the load, covered by a surface of light stone to absorb wear and tear and shed water to the drainage ditches. In modern macadam construction crushed stone or gravel is placed on the compacted base course and bound together with asphalt cement or hot tar. A third layer to fill the interstices is then added and rolled. Cement-sand slurry is sometimes used as the binder.

You're bringing back memories of the National Lampoon Newspaper Parody.  Only there is was macadam vs concrete.

I believe that was the Dacron Ohio Republican-Democrat.  My favorite memory:  the Axis Motors advertisement.

PS.  Almost forgot the classified ad:  Late model Ferrari 308 GTB, $1500.  Minor flame damage.
