October 4, 20241 yr https://www.pcguide.com/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-release-date-price-specs/ Will you need a new motherboard for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D? "The Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be part of the Zen 5 generation, meaning it’ll need an AM5 motherboard. So, if you’re moving from the LGA1700 or AM4 processors, you’ll need to purchase not only an AM5 motherboard but also DDR5 RAM. However, if you’ve got a Ryzen 7000 series processor, you can easily mount the 9800X3D on your existing motherboard without any issues. The list of compatible motherboards encompasses anything using an AM5 socket chipset, which you can see on AMD’s website. This includes the new X870E and X870 motherboards, as well as X670E, X670, B650E, B650, and A620." https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-is-on-the-horizon/ "AMD may have just released its new Zen 5 lineup less than two months ago, but the processor that all gamers are waiting for is definitely the Ryzen 7 9800X3D — and it seems to be a lot closer than we thought. A few days after an initial report that the 9800X3D would launch this year, another leak reaffirmed this by sharing promotional material about the CPU. It really looks like AMD is banking on the 9800X3D to be the best processor of the year. This isn’t the only sign of an imminent launch." https://www.techpowerup.com/326978/amd-rushing-in-ryzen-7-9800x3d-expect-product-launch-late-october AMD Rushing in Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Expect Product Launch Late-October Facing poor sales of its Ryzen 9000 "Granite Ridge" desktop processors, and with the spectre of Intel's Core Ultra "Arrow Lake-S" looming, AMD is rumored to have given its desktop processor roadmap a shakedown. The company is working to rush in at least one of the three upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D series processor SKUs. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a successor to the popular Ryzen 7 7800X3D. It pairs the new "Zen 5" microarchitecture with 3D V-cache technology to boost gaming performance. AMD is allegedly rushing the 9800X3D for a late-October launch. If this chip meets its performance targets (of around 15-20% over the 9700X), then AMD hopes it could take the edge off Intel's Core Ultra 200-series. Launch of a Ryzen 9000X3D series product-stack became inevitable when AMD confirmed that the "Zen 5" CCD has silicon-level preparation for 3D V-cache (such as TSVs over the region with the on-die L3 cache that interface with the stacked L3D silicon), however, it was expected that the non-X3D Ryzen 9000 series, such as the 9700X, would perform close to the 7800X3D in games, giving AMD room to launch the 9800X3D in Q1-2025. Prior to the 7800X3D and Intel's 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake," the Ryzen 7 7700X nearly matched the gaming performance of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and so something similar was expected of the 9700X. Of course things didn't go to plan, the 9700X fell significantly short of the 7800X3D in gaming, resulting in mixed reviews and low sales. in closing (for MSFS): 9900X? no 9800X3D? yes, unless you already have a 7800X3D Edited October 4, 20241 yr by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

It may sound like i am dissing the x3d chips iam really not , since i have been on the AMD platform the only CPU's i have had until this one were x3d's are they are great no doubt. but i have discovered since using this 12 core is that iam not having to think about system resources like i used to that's all , its a real revelation to me and a nice feeling when everything is powered up ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's.
