As my 7800x3D is a weakling in the memory controller department , ive ordered a 9900x to replace it.  and just found out even the x R9's utilize core parking 🥴, is anyone using this chip in msfs without using core parking and does it make any difference . i could have waited for the 9xxx3d but as i sim at 4k its not essential for me , i just cant have this semi dysfunctional 7800x3d in my case anymore ! lol. any info is greatly appreciated

What effect does this have on MSFS?  I am running a very smooth sim and have nothing to complain about.

Get the 7950x3d and you get the best of both. 8 cores with cache and 8 higher speed cores.

Doesn't setting minimum processor state to 100% in Windows power settings disable core parking? Or at least this is what I understood from the late NickN.

hi, yes having looked into it  that's one of the ways to disable it , my concern is if you turn off core parking does it have any negative performance in the sim. i normally set high/ultra performance anyway in power settings 😊

If you're asking, my response is it shouldn't affect performance.

AMD is looking into the issue, and we learned that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D's cores should never park. Unfortunately, that isn't spelled out in the reviewer guide, and our cores were parking during gaming on a fresh Windows install. Luckily we noticed this as the source of the performance issues, but we haven't had time to verify it on other motherboards due to the late discovery.

AMD hasn't provided an update yet, but in the meantime, we figured out how to correct the issue by disabling core parking entirely. We don't recommend that you try this at home, though. (Proceed at your own risk.)

Above, you can see how this workaround looks with the average of performance over our entire test suite. With core parking disabled entirely (listed as 'NCP'), we saw the overall average improve by 4%. That doesn't look like much when viewed in a vacuum, but it can be the difference between a winner or loser in our final results — as you'll see on the following page, this extra bit of performance puts the Ryzen 7 7800X3D ahead of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in gaming.

Additionally, some games are more impacted than others — Far Cry 6 was 16.9% faster with core parking correctly disabled, and Warhammer 3 was 7.4% faster.

Luckily, your odds of encountering this issue are low, but be aware that you should monitor your system at first to see if the cores park occasionally (note - core parking is different than an idle state, which the cores should be able to do). You can use the CPU pane in the Windows resource monitor to check the cores.

"I think the issue was when reviewing sites were testing the 7800X3D, they had previously the 7950X3D inside the motherboard (it did come out earlier). That needed a Windows reinstall, but they didn't do it, so that gave them the issue. That usually is not a problem, that's why they didn't expect it."

"Open Resource Monitor, go to CPU tab, see if any cores haved "Parked" in the CPU name above each graph if CPU usage on the right."

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

With the 16-core 7950X3d, there’s been some issues with core parking. I got it working with a few tweaks (thread in hardware forum).

Power setting should be balanced for the Windows scheduler and core parking to work properly. And it’s beneficial as only the “cache” cores (CCD0) will be used with MSFS. Or put in another way, “when you’re latency-sensitive in what you’re doing” (i.e. gaming/simming) according to the video that turbo shared.

Also, the 8 “frequency” cores (CCD1) will be used for background apps (ATC addons etc). Also great if you want to render a 4K video while simming 😜

Core parking can be monitored with the Ryzen Master app, BUT MSFS needs to be in the foreground, hence Ryzen Master has to be on a secondary monitor… Or the sim needs to be in “true” window mode.

Sad to hear that Nick passed away 😞

DId you knew this? I followed his Instructions and have no issues with core parking anymore.

It's simple to follow and brought me less stutters (4k VR Varjo Aero) so every single frame is important to me.

I use expo 1 at my 6000mhz Corsair 32gb ram.

And that was with an Asus Hero x670e board and in between I've an Aorus Master X670e board

This counts for 7900X3d though.

Not for 7800X3D
