Anyone know of a list of new MSFS 2024 airports?

Featured Replies

We now have a good idea of the new and included aircraft, but, I am yet to see a list of new airports that will be added.  Thanks.

Regards,

RayM

I don't think there are any new ones, there's lots of Upgraded Airports though, see link below;

I would like to know as well. Hopefully MS let us know soon.

Is there a difference between upgraded and new airports?  All I see is that it only matters whether airports are hand crafted or not and the degree of quality.  The 2020 premium deluxe version for example came with 40 airports, here 2024 is saying 160 airports for its premium deluxe version which is a huge jump.

That figure of 160 includes all of the hand crafted airports that have been added with World and City updates.

It has been said that all existing airports will benefit from the improvement bring by MSFS2024 like generic new textures and light system.

I don't know about new airports but here is an extensive list of 2020 airports (credit JetWash1023 on MSFS official forum) that should be ported over to 2024 with a Google Maps locations link (credit masdeca on MSFS official forum) as well.

Edited to format text in quote as copy/paste did not work as I expected.

I spent a long time searching for a simple list of official handcrafted airports and frustratingly all I could find were fragmented snippets of information scattered all over the web, mostly dating back to the initial release. Having hit this brick wall I took it upon myself to make one in the hope it would help others looking for the same thing.

These are, to the very best of my knowledge, all the Hand Crafted Airports released thus far by Asobo. I’ll endeavour to keep this updated after each Sim/World update.

Additionally, @masdeca has kindly made a visual representation of the list in Google Maps which can be found by clicking on the link below. Note you can adjust the clickable legend to display different types of airfield;

Jorg mentioned KGCN, apart from that we don't know of any other new airports. He also stressed that they didn't want to tread onto third party developers - so it seems that maybe the main reason why there are not a flood of new ones.

New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. Old PC - Ryzen 5900x - 32gb 3600Mhz RAM - Asus Strix X570-F Motherboard - ASUS TUF OC RTX 3090 - 1TB Sabrent NVMe. AOC AGON 32" 144Hz - Honeycomb Yoke - Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. T Flight Rudder Pedals - Trackir.

We do know of another new airport, there’s a handcrafted Bilbao airport. You can see it in the very first trailer it’s in the ambulance scene, and in one of the banners on the steam page you can see its control tower in the background.

Yes. New in this context means not handcrafted before.

At this point, I think they should rework the default assets (for the default autogenerated airports) and put some effort to make the World Hub a success (so people can improve the default airports).

It’s a shame KCMI University of Illinois/Willard has never been given the  attention it deserves as the first home to flight simulator, pre dating Meigs field as the home base.

It will always be a special place to those of us growing up with commodore  “datasette “ cassette loaders, as our world started at KCMI and only went as far North as KIKK greater Kankakee.

Whilst it has not been fully clarified, I am expecting the new sim will have pretty much the same hand crafted airports per version as the old one, which is a bit of a surprise really as I was expecting much better.

Totally agree, Gayá or whoever it is are going through 40,000 - or the most used airports, but I’m concerned they won’t touch those little used back country strips, small GA fields etc.

I listened to the SDK q&a yesterday - it sounds like there’s still no standing water - puddles, I was disappointed to hear this.
