FS2024 is not ready ... and shouldn't be released

Let's see we have one mission builder here on Oct 13 who claims it would be a mistake to release on Nov 19th.  Gee whiz let the hand-wringing commence.  Sounds like 94% clickbait, and 6% sincerity laced with a few actual data points.

Yes. And this is all it is.  One guys personal opinion.

Why are people getting so triggered over it?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

  • It must be so frustrating for the devs / Jorg to drop in on threads like this, having explicitly and repeatedly told us it’s an alpha for telemetry sourcing, to say on the intro page for the download

  • Sounds like you missed out on a fortune making money for the most popular sim ever made.     Questionable business decision.

  • With all due respect,   If the mentality of some strong voices in avsim had their views we would all still be on a broken P3d platform. It really does seem to be the place for the metaphor

Do you seriously, honestly believe the "I've worked on this simulator for thousands of hours but I decided to release nothing because I have high standards" story?

Even more so compared to the tons of great content that other developers managed to achieve? Do they not have high standards? 🤔

People are "triggered" because of the ludicrous credential claims paired with the hyperdramatic tone. I thought that was obvious.

My theory is that these people are so emotionally invested in having MSFS 2024 running decent on November 19th that they cannot and will not consider the possibility that this could be a pretty rough launch. I am actually considering buying add-ons for 2020 since I now feel pretty confident that 2024 will need many months to iron out. If I am wrong those same add-ons will eventually be ported to 2024. No issue either way for me.

I’m sure there will be roughness around the launch. Im also sure that believing that, or that it’s not ready for release, based on a build MS has told us, the sim tells us, other users are telling us is an alpha solely used for telemetry testing, shows an emotional investment in the sim running badly on Nov 19th.

That makes zero sense. But you keep doing the hopium ostrich thing. Don't let me get in the way lol.

Considering a phrase as clear and unequivocal as ‘an alpha used solely for telemetry testing’ made zero sense to you, I’ll try not to let it worry me.

Imagine, people being invested in the idea of having a good experience with the simulator this forum is about and they're paying good money for. What a crazy thing! How strange! How do they dare! 😂

Not everyone is interested in wringing their hands before issues happen, especially considering that the preview version of the actual sim (not the very partial technical alpha) was actually very promising.

There is absolutely no doubt about this.

It won't take long to determine who is right and who is wrong. Not long at all.

Took advantage of the sale in the marketplace and purchased both the Duke and Kodiak bundles. So regardless of how this plays out the rest of the year and into next year, it really doesn't matter to me. Rooting for the team to have a successful release and I did my part and bought the steel case edition of 2024 from Amazon.

I expect that 2024 will have similar problems at release as 2020, but I have plenty of space in my SSD to keep 2020 installed and use them both side by side until all major bugs are ironed out, I'm not worry at all.

There were reports that installing 2024 hosed 2020. I believe this was on the same drive, so just a heads up. Might not be an issue upon release.

*sigh*

I cant be right or wrong because I haven’t made any claims about how ready or not the sim is for launch.

The only thing I’ve said is that it’s daft to extrapolate a launch readiness claim from this telemetry testing alpha build.

Make sense…?

Now that fs2020 is completed and finally bug free, it is time to move on to fs2024.

I use Steam so I'm not worry about that either 😄

Just saw someone on reddit did a comparison between a road in MSFS 2020 and the same  road in MSFS 2024.  The road in MSFS 2024 looks extremely bad.  This just goes to show its an alpha and that we are given a very limited build to test.  Like connect the dots and ask yourself why is some parts of MSFS 2020 looking so much better than 2024.

The top pic is MSFS 2024

Also on that note, any comparison between MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 should be put on HOLD.  We simply do not know how much we are missing in this limited alpha build and it is disingenuous to compare them as of now.  Wait till it release is the right thing to do.
