  • It must be so frustrating for the devs / Jorg to drop in on threads like this, having explicitly and repeatedly told us it’s an alpha for telemetry sourcing, to say on the intro page for the download

  • Sounds like you missed out on a fortune making money for the most popular sim ever made.     Questionable business decision.

  • With all due respect,   If the mentality of some strong voices in avsim had their views we would all still be on a broken P3d platform. It really does seem to be the place for the metaphor

News Flash!   We will see on launch day if it meets expectations or is a total dumpster fire. Then whichever side you are currently on, can give the other side a raspberry  for being right! 🤣

I have spent probably thousands of hours using the SDK for Flight Simulator 2020 to build airports and other content, but chose not to release any of that content, hoping that the SDK's shortcomings could be improved.

It is not ready. And it would be a mistake for it to be released on November 19. That is my view. I hope others will chime in with their view.

So in other words, you have developed nothing for FS2020, Yet claim to be an expert on the development process. While others released Airports, Aircraft etc... Stick with FSX

Pete Richards

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

Another likelyhood on this build is their ability to seamlessly update code, scenery and weather on the server side to gauge how this propogates to those on the client. This would negate their need to package world and avionics updates for download / user install updates. It is obvious they want to make these server updates incrementally in the future with minimal impact on users who are currently in the middle of flights.

For example, to update a city or dem region has required users to be offline and install prior to experiencing. Their plan I am sure is to be able to provide these updates on their end while users are mid flight without causing crashes. Think multi-player as an example. Quite a feat to pull off.

I didn't want to release content that didn't meet my own standards. You may be right that this cost me a fortune.

I think this is an admirable stance, but it does lead to a genuine question: What standards were you unable to meet? I look at Flightbeam's airports and it's difficult to imagine them being seen as sufficiently shoddy that they shouldn't have been released. What were you looking to do with your addons that you were unable to accomplish?

meet my own standards.

If your (OPs) own standards where so high, that a Plattform after 4 years does not Match them AND users a massively buying products from other devs, who develop, release AND make users happy.....

Then you could (not must necessarily) ask yourself, if your standards are balanced.

But if your goals are well choosen....and the goal is NOT to earn money...then you might be still happy with that.

Thinking about uninstalling P3D using this drive for MSFS2024 and hoping addon linker will be able to use same scenery folder (not taking up twice the amount)

I have 2 extra community folders on different drives. So basic 3 folders in use

This thread just reinforces why I chose not to test this Alpha build - I didn’t want it to disappoint me - I’d rather wait, remain positive and look forward to the release in Nov.

have I seen things that concern me - YES, is my glass half full - 👍

I’ll download the free standard edition on game pass thanks 😉

It's interesting to see that it's always the same people magically appearing

Are you referring to yourself?  You seem to be one of the loudest and most prominent voices for defending some developers until your last breath and attacking others for daring to criticize those developers for their hard work (cough cough Aerosoft 330) while the hypocrite in you feels fine criticizing the developers you don't care for like Feelthere...

It almost seems like you thrive on trying to make your point or contributing to what you critique others for...   I mean here you are clarifying the definition of insulting and defining free speech for us...

Maybe before posting to and about others we should look inwards...

It's ok, he came to my personal profile page to further prove my point...  Time to add my 2nd person ever in 19 years to my ignore list.

Apparently I am disingenuous and beyond help, the problem is on my side but he is just going to report me and move on (After coming to insult me on my profile page LOL)   😂

Sorry Bob Scott, just read your note and I will refrain from anything further!

Let's see we have one mission builder here on Oct 13 who claims it would be a mistake to release on Nov 19th.  Gee whiz let the hand-wringing commence.  Sounds like 94% clickbait, and 6% sincerity laced with a few actual data points.
