FS2024 is not ready ... and shouldn't be released

Featured Replies

There a so less facts ....and even those are being completely ignored by testers

Facts:

- It is an alpha build

- It is used for gathering telemetry

- And it's NOT the release build.

3 facts.....and people here conclude so many other made up reality based on their personal own views, expectations and are getting angry, worrying....and and and....

IF anyone is thinking that Asobo or MS is having a problem with MSFS2024 release....then those people who are  thinking this,  have to look at themselves...because its their own  expectations.....

And I assume....those are misleading...

  • It must be so frustrating for the devs / Jorg to drop in on threads like this, having explicitly and repeatedly told us it’s an alpha for telemetry sourcing, to say on the intro page for the download

  • Sounds like you missed out on a fortune making money for the most popular sim ever made.     Questionable business decision.

  • With all due respect,   If the mentality of some strong voices in avsim had their views we would all still be on a broken P3d platform. It really does seem to be the place for the metaphor

5 pages of discussion on making judgement calls on a product not even out yet. A product that is currently available has been clearly signalled as stripped down and not representative of a release candidate.

you can’t make this up. Avsim certainly has hits moments.

Actually it is one post expressing a concern based on everything we have seen, that this product needs more time in the oven. The other 5 pages are people losing their @#$& because someone pointed out the obvious. 😭

I feel like every game that has a alpha/beta people say is a super early build and then the actual game comes out and it's almost exactly the same as the alpha/beta.

That's my one concern with 2024. I don't trust developer rhetoric on stuff like this.

Except this is completely different than those usual alpha/beta test.

But we haven’t even seen the final build.

It's one post based on uninformed word not allowed, by a person who hasn't even participated in the Technical Alpha.

OP, and others claiming the sky is falling, should read this start-up screen statement carefully:

And you will be attacked for this view. Just mentioning the OBVIOUS state this product is in sends heads exploding. Only one side of this discussion is getting emotional and it isn’t those pointing out the obvious. Hilarious reaction from supposed adults.

I'll add you to the list of people that fall to understand plain English and fail to understand exactly what this Technical Alpha represents, if English isn't your first language perhaps that explains your failure to understand which is fair enough.

Here's the thing, I'll be first in line with the pitch forks on release day should blatantly obvious issues and bugs from MSFS2020 carry over to the new Sim, but I have the intelligence (like many others) and full understanding of the English written word to accept and fully understand what this Technical Alpha represents.

Without all the add on planes, add on scenery, game play extensions like A pilots life, AI traffic packs, ATC improvements etc, the base game of 2020 is actually still lacking a whole lot.  I would suspect that almost no one on this site plays the vanilla version of this game

Are we *seriously* having this discussion?

MSFS 2020 is pretty literally the only civilian simulator on the market that can be used in its vanilla form and still produce a decent simulation experience. Literally every other simulator in this market *requires* add-ons (and not just a couple) to be remotely *viable.*

Exactly. One group says hey what you gave us looks pretty rough, while the other side says but this isn’t the version we are getting! Here is the reality. The alpha version DOES represent a version. Asobo felt good enough about this version to put it out to the public for testing. Jorg also confirmed the code is pretty much locked down. Now what other version are those getting super defensive referring to???

Yeah there is really no nuance any more on the internet, it's all or nothing.

For me there were some great things about the new sim.  Career mode is great, the lighting, the aircraft dynamics, all a wow factor.

I was concerned by the stuttering which I don't get on MSFS 2020, and the low res terrain files over a lot of what I flew over.  I don't know if that's because it's in alpha, whether there are problems with my rig, or what is the case.  It wasn't game breaking, but a bit annoying.

Anyway, I give it a 7 out of 10.  We need nuance, not all or nothing commentary.  Unless it really is word not allowed, which it absolutely is not.

out the obvious

Obvious is:

The tested alpha build is NOT the release build and used for telemetry.

And.....

All the other concerns are personal concerns made by individuals based on their experiences, behaves etc.

Obvious ifor me personally is...that all those concerns are not necessary.....and burn energy....create worries without having the "problem yet"....

If there is NO problem yet....then stop worrying.....it makes your life easier.

Since FS200, every build of Flight Sim was released with bugs. We worked through them all and moved on to the next version. There is no bug free or perfect release of software that has to deal with various types of hardware, rig setups and software drivers to get a perfect out of the box release. When FS 2024 is released, there will be bugs and headaches. But we will endure it all and move on and hopefully a year from now FS 2024 will be stable and just as much fun as FS 2020. At least that's what I'm looking forward too. To the OP. just take a chill pill and relax, hop on board (if you like or not) and enjoy the ride into the future.

Get that pitch fork ready lol.

The alpha build may even be older than the build they used at the press event

edit: I was wrong, someone apparently found the build date, it’s from September 25th

Though that only says when it was created, not when it was split off from the full sim

It's interesting to see that it's always the same people magically appearing to raise the shield to defend any threads where they can find some negativity to echo and boost, no matter how nonsensical that thread is (and this one is certainly up there).

We'll hear "It's opinion!" and then you read some factually false statements like "the flight model is the same as MSFS 2020!" Anyone who says that is either being dishonest or simply lacks the tools to distinguish a flight model from the other. The flight model is radically different and was achieved via radically different means.

Then we'll hear absurd claims of victimhood like "evil people are insulting those who express their concerns!"

"Insulting" doesn't mean what you think it means. Being told that what you're saying is nonsense is not an insult. It's a comment on your statement that you have made publicly, open for discussion and comment. Being called id*ot is an insult, and that's simply not what's happening here.

Then we get to the extreme with some invoking breaches of "free speech."

Free speech is the right to express one's ideas without being legally prosecuted by the government or law enforcement. It does not extend to anything else. It has nothing to do with bashing a flight simulator on a forum without being told that you're going deep into the nonsense rabbit hole or that the thread makes ludicrous claims based on ludicrous and likely invented credentials.

Getting pushback for bashing software is not in any shape or form infringing on your free speech, nor does it equate to being insulted or personally attacked.
