I'm thrilled by the visual quality inside and outside. I wasn't expecting that, at all.

Couldn't go deep in the systems yet.

Fabulous release so far, I would say. Installer worked great, too.

Thanks to the whole team!

cheers,

This is truly awesome! the level of detail is unbelievable for a freeware aircraft.

But if there was ever a time where you needed a GPU with 24GB of VRAM in MSFS, now would be it. My EVGA FTW3 3090ti is using 22.8GB out or 24GB of available VRAM, parked at CYYC.

Admittedly, I am using the 8k version of the A380. Before that, the highest VRAM usage I'd ever seen in MSFS, was during the first few days of DX12 implementation in the sim at 16GB. Do note that DX12 is still in beta in the sim 3+ years later, but I digress.

Try the 4k. Doesn't make much difference visually. Also try to set texture resolution (MSFS settings) lower than Ultra. High at best. This should make some difference. Lower LOD settings also helps.

Also keep in mind this is an alpha version. It isn't optimized at all right now (this is one of the later things you do during developement).

Using 4K version, and at EGLL I', also at 23.9 of vram with triples in 2k.

Anyway... what a masterpiece!

Setting up FMC now, how to calculate V speeds, Flex and so on? Cant find the page in the tablet.

Hi Watsi.

Not necessary.

My framerate with frame gen is over 60fps for the most part. I will try the 4k version to see the difference in performance at some point. My graphics settings are pretty much all ultra in MSFS @4k  no DLSS no scaling and AA is TAA.

I'm kind of glad I resisted the urge to upgrade to a 4070- a card that Nvidia says was supposed to replace the 3090ti. Albeit with half the VRAM. Don't get me wrong, the 4070 is a great card. But I'm not giving up the VRAM. Maybe a 4090 in the future when the 5xxx series cards hit launch, and we possibly see a drop in $$$ in the previous generation.

Simply outstanding to have this as a freeware project. Hard to believe it’s Alpha stage when some payware doesn’t even accomplish this detail and fidelity.   Many thanks!

Not in the tablet yet. Try using the SimBrief performance calculator for the A380.

Is anyone else having issues calibrating thrust reversers (reverse idle- reverse full) on their TCA thrustmaster throttle quadrants?

Idle CLB FLEX and TOGA are good. Forgive my ignorance but the throttle quadrant in the actual aircraft has no detents for reverse thrust, but the calibrate section in the flypad doesn't seen to "know" this.

Thanks. Found it in simbrief.

Just finished first flight EGLL/LIMC. Everything went perfectly smooth, and almost got lost "walking" in the airplane during cruise.

Need to learn a lot and to go deeper into the systems, but long story short... All the guys at FlyByWire did something really incredible!  Knowledge and passion at their best, for sure. Thanks a lot.

Yep . Copied my 320 throttle settings which work since years. Needed to add engine axis 3 and 4 and so lever 1 adjustes engines 1 and 2 and lever 2 the other engines 3 and 4. however, reversers only work for engines 2 and 3? Flypad calibration worked though for reversers I also only see engines 3 and 4 work. 1 and 4 are basically greyed out as if the 380 comes only with reversers for engines 2 and 3. now don’t tell me that how it works IRL 😉

Yes, this is how it works IRL on the 380, only 2 and 3.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

So with engine start, I've noticed everything works.

Except I too am only getting engines 2 and 3 with actual reversers. I've assigned the left throttle lever to control engines 1 and 2, and the right to control 3 and 4.

I basically copied my a320 settings in MSFS and made a new profile for the 380 and then made the required changes to reflect a four engine aircraft. I don't understand why the outboard engine reversers would be missing. Further investigation is needed.

EDIT

It seems like there are only two reversers IRL. Thanks LRBS. I also just noticed there are only 2 reverser levers on the inboard thrust levers of the AC. facepalm....

Move along nothing to see here folks (whistles) LOL
