Too much drama beside the issue of placing other products on pirated sites

Are you arguing that bait and switching your customers, ghosting them for a year, not delivering the promised updates for that period, and then walking back on a clearly written commercial promise, are just irrelevant drama? Or I'm misunderstanding?

I have all of their US airports with exception of KSFO (courtesy of Mir and FB) and I'm fine. No one either baited or switched me. Give me better alternative for KMIA, KSEA, KPHX and I promise, I will switch 🙂

I'm shaking my head because it's hard to understand why anyone would buy an add-on for a sim, then share it. It's kind of evil in a way.

In their case maybe they did it to diminuish sales of the competitor: You know if people pirated scenery ABC, they didn't buy it (and likely never will), so that competitor dev got no money. That's one way to weaken a competitor. These kind of "business practices" are not unheard of in Russia (Alexey is Russian), even less so these days.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

You may have missed what was mentioned before. I wasn't talking about your specific personal relationship with this developer.

As you can see on his previous website that he conveniently deleted

https://web.archive.org/web/20220125151150/http://beautifulmodelworld.ru/memberships/

He promised his customers an "all you can eat" buffet deal in which they paid a specific (and gradually increasing) sum for all of his airports, present and future, on top of early access to all updates. Then he proceeded to rescind that deal, not only not giving any more new airports to his customers who paid for that deal, but also not delivering updates to them and ghosting them for a whole year, while in the meanwhile selling the same airports on several stores and providing updates only there.

He may not have bait and word not allowedch-ed you, but he did it to a lot of other people. That's far from being just "drama."

It looks pretty good, but I can see some inconsistencies in the quality, which is typical of BMW.

I'm probably gonna pass on principle simply because this BMW + Amsim partnership exists exclusively to create an excuse for BMW not to deliver any of his new airports to his early adopters to whom he had promised all of his future airports in return of the payment of a lump sum.

While it didn't end up a bad deal, I don't appreciate weaseling out of explicit promises made to customers like that, so the dude ain't getting a dollar from me.

It's not like there's any way to legally act against a Russian solo dev because he violated his contract, at least not in these times. The more important reason to collaborate with Amsim was that Amsim is from Armenia and Armenia is not subject to sanctions - so BMW can easily get the income from the sales via Armenia as a kind of entry gate, if you will.

I'm sure that plays a role, but he's also been selling his own airports individually on several stores, so unless he also does that via Amsim (but has started doing it way before the partnership with Amsim), he has found another way around the sanctions. There are several Russian developers selling stuff on Simmarket, for instance.

I'm not familiar with how they're paid, but they're obviously paid, somehow.

Edit: to be more specific, BMW started selling its individual products in several stores in September 2021. The BMW + Amsim partnership released its first airport (KSEA) exactly one year later, in September 2022.

Considering that you seem intent on defending this developer, you'd probably find that convenient.

@Fiorentoni @Mir // Flightbeam

Out of interest, are you guys aware of any direct implication of Amsim in BMW's piracy?

I think it'd be possibly worth hearing their side of this story. They may very well have been bamboozled by BMW pretty much like the storefronts that have been selling BMW's products without knowledge of his pirate antics.

I personally witnessed BMW childish attack on FB here on avsim. After that I decided no to invest in BMW any longer. I welcome  healthy competition but not "sucker punch" like behavior. In any case, I have long standing bugs and problem with existing BMW sceneries I purchased earlier, with no light in the end of the tunnel . But with FS20204 around the corner I don't care about BMW LOL

No, from what I gathered what BMW did in regard to piracy was before joining with Amsim. Then again it's not exactly a regular thing that two scenery devs join up, so I don't think they are completely clueless about all of that.

I am not aware, or have any reason to suspect that Amsim is involved in the piracy scheme that BMW is involved in.

Gotcha. Thank you for letting me know.

We'll see if they say anything and/or detach themselves from BMW going forward.

He pirated Flightbeam’s work by sharing it to the Pirate networks.  He did the same with LatinVFR’s KMIA.  As a result, he got banned from Contrail.  By doing this, he intentionally hurt these two devs, while releasing his own versions at the same time.  It’s a serious ethical issue.

Russians and ethics... I mean... 😂
