It's only a tech alpha and not representative of the final..

I don’t remember any loading / server problems with the tech alpha. Elucidate, ye.

Evidently your opinion is not really worth enough to debate, but I will add that in the initial preview event they had the routers were slammed, which delayed the event. So there's that lol.

  • Well, it certainly is different from the tech alpha... it seems that one worked a whole lot better.

I'm still on MSFS 2020 so it doesn't affect me directly, but I am very cross about this situation and I feel my fellow-simmers have been seriously taken advantage of. The sheer greed in our society is just so excessive and so horrible to behold.

Good grief this is some next level hyperbole and setting of one's hair on fire 🤣 .. day 1 server load issues for a highly popular software product that is very dependent on the cloud and that means "societal greed", "seriously taken advantage of", etc lol?

And once past the install and server queue issues, etc, from all accounts the differences between tech alpha and final release are significant.. i.e. ground-level details. But of course that was obvious and known to most of us.

Curious and strange that there are some amongst those who've chosen to remain on 2020 and not move up to 2024 yet (which is perfectly fine of course) who feel the need to keep harping and amplifying these day 1 issues ... it's almost as if they need to re-assure themselves 🙄. And by almost I mean absolutely.

Some pro tips

  • if you are happy with 2020 keep using 2020
  • if you absolutely are triggered by cloud/server issues then go use a sim that doesn't use the cloud, or use 2020
  • if you are insecure about using 2020, or feel the need to keep validating your decision to not move up to 2024, go outside and touch grass

As I remember it that whole discussion wasn't about the installation process right? But you're right, this mess will be solved very soon I hope.

I had mentioned that the preview event they had with the influencers had router issues that delayed the start. The issue was the people connected by LAN to the router slammed it. So there were signs lol. Unfortunately, we haven't even gotten to the things that don't work in this sim because people can't even load it yet. So that part is coming.

Eventually we'll get there! But patience is going to be required.

Who's gloating? I am probably the most optimistic person here! Everyone else is busy reinstalling 2020 lol. And let's be honest. A few of us pointed out the obvious and the hate was over the top. I won't forget the way the community treated people for that.

Childish.

Ok, so have your sweet revenge and enjoy it. It might turn into an entertaining thread 😁

My original post...

Predictions regarding the launch of 2024...

So, what do you guys think? Is the launch going to be pretty smooth, a dumpster fire, or something in between? I am voting either it gets delayed or is a dumpster fire. I expect a lot of problems across the board and put a release delay at 50/50 right now. I am fine with them releasing it too early, because until it gets in enough user's hands issues won't get ironed out.  Super pumped about MSFS 2024 but I am a realist. No way this thing is ready in 5-6 weeks. Not in my opinion. I will be happy if the major issues are fixed by the end of the year. Long term this is going to be an amazing project (just like 2020) but patience is going to be a virtue. Great product. Awesome development team. Nothing but respect for these guys.

Hoping for the best, but absolutely expecting the worst.

You see, I did not think this was a terrible thing to post. But many took REAL issue with it.

That was the excuse everyone ELSE used to explain why the concerns some of us had were not valid. You do remember that, right? It had nothing to do comments I made about the tech alpha.

You misspelled ‘OK today’s problems are in no way connected to the tech alpha and in no way comparable or an ‘I told you so’ moment’

Only if you were talking directly about the TechAlpha.
