MSFS2024 makes me buy a new PC!

Hi,

I bought MS2024 without upgrading my PC.

My intention was to see how the simulator was going and, consequently, to know what upgrade to do.

Graphics and FPS are worse than in MS2020.

Apparently, I will have to wait a long time, as what I have read from users with powerful GPUs and CPUs is discouraging.

Maybe when the new GeForce 5000 series comes out... I don't know

But what CPU? I think this is the question.

Greetings

Go for a AMD, i was years on Intel and was lucky and tought nothing can beat Intel.

But seems i was wrong, my NEW Rig i build at August this year ( see my specs ) is a bomer and I don't regret this decision in any way, quite the opposite..

cheers 😉

  • There's no power to unleash in MS2024.😶  What you have with this release is a buggy sim that should start to get fixed next month.  If you can run FS2020 well now, FS2024 should run better on your cur

  • It's hard to understand how some simmers go out and buy more ram, a new gpu, or even a new computer for a broken sim. I tried to warn some, but most don't read or listen. MSFS was rushed out the door

@mistolip Don't let the tsunami of misery posted here crush your high spirits. 2024 runs fine on the same hardware as 2020 and has far more detail. A better PC means you can enjoy 2024 and 2020 w

Hi, pmplayer,

Thank you for your advice!

I was certainly considering that possibility.

Cheers

If 2020 runs great, you don't need a new PC. You need a sim that works properly.

This. All things point to hasty and sloppy last second code in everything FS2024 right now.

If you're going to buy hardware anyway, the time to buy is now.  It's the week of Black Friday, the BIGGEST sale day of the year in the US.

Hence, the reason to jump into MSFS 2024 now, find out if you need an upgrade and buy when pricing is at its lowest for computers.

Black Friday has almost no effect on high end PC prices. How many deals do you see on RTX 4090 cards? How many deals on Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs? Post Links! My favorite builder Velocity Micro has $150 off of high end systems for black friday. You will save much more by waiting for upcoming RTX and Ryzen releases which will drop prices on whats best now. Not to mention nobody really knows yet what the most cost effective system is for FS2024.

Thank you. You actually aroused my curiosity. So I did a reality check and priced it out. I wanted to test the assumption that one can save by building one's own PC.

I think I found the Velocity Micro system you are referring to that has a $150 off.  Is it this one?  The price is $2,149. The Raptor Z95 (Customize Your Raptor™ Z95- Velocity Micro)?

Check out the comparison of a compatible system below for $1570.  I suspect the price difference will be pretty consistent when comparing other pre-built vs. do-it-yourself systems. Personally, I understand why vendors charge more. They have fixed costs and have to pay for labor, rent, and tech support.  I don't mind paying for them if I don't feel like building my own. (I don't mind paying my share and help stimulate the economy). 🙂

Please let me know if I'm missing something.

Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

You completely missed what I said. Your statement that you should buy a pc now because of black friday didn’t make sense to me, and I asked if you could provide any links to Black Friday discounts on RTX4090 graphics cards or Ryzen 9800X3D CPUs since these are the #1 parts for a new pc for MSFS2024. Instead you provide proof that it’s cheaper to build your own pc. I am well aware of that, I saved almost $1k building my last one.

I expect around 30% based on current info which will boil down rather to around 20% more fps. but who needs that when you have a 4090...
