December 11, 20241 yr I have run into a problem. Trying to fly from Sydney to Hong Kong two days ago, I suffered a P3D crash, (it just stopped working. Not a windows CTD) over the north of Australia). As it is an Orbx scenery, I verified the files (Australia v2), did a repair to Prepar3d, did a Windows sfc check and tried again this morning. Exactly the same place, it happened again. Obviously something it doesn't like. But what could it be? The only paid airports are Sydney and Hong Kong and they are hours away. Any ideas? December 11, 20241 yr Moderator Ian, can you easily disable AUSv2 and fly over the same area? See if that changes anything. A saved flight a couple of minutes before the problem area would allow you to fly over it and recheck both with and without AUSv2 enabled. Ray (Cheshire, England). December 11, 20241 yr Author Thanks, I will try each suggestion. AIG updates regularly, so I believe that is a more likely culprit. Although, that being said, I think Aus v2 did recently update as well. We shall know by this weekend. Edited December 11, 20241 yr by IanHarrison spelling Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. December 11, 20241 yr Moderator @IanHarrison, given you’re on 5.4 that version gave me numerous problems around the world with the sim freezing for a long time before recovering. Reverting to 5.3HF2 fixed things. I’d be more inclined to think the problem is with Ai traffic. Turning it to zero is easy enough for BGL based Ai or stop Traffic Controller for AIGFP ones. AUSv2 is long established and I’ve not had any problems with it. Ray (Cheshire, England). December 12, 20241 yr I've been having problems with AIG since the AIG TC was automatically updated to version 0.8.4.5. The sim (V5.4) freezes. There are other reports of problems in their forum. I’m convinced the changes in 5.4 conflict with some BGL or AIGFP files. The freezes were random from Finland, England, USA, Australia and Netherlands. Impossible to locate the offending file. December 12, 20241 yr Moderator There was one route where I could reproduce the freeze consistently. YSCB-YSSY. Canberra to Sydney. Fortunately it’s a short route and the freezes mostly occurred around half way there although I did have it earlier and in a couple of cases when on finals to 16R. Fly it around 11:00 local and see how you get on. Ray (Cheshire, England). December 12, 20241 yr I have no problem with AIG-TC at all. Works just fine with my P3D 5.4 setup. Regarding the problem Ian reported. I remember a few years ago I had problems with flying in ORBX LC Africa. At some points the simulator just stopped working. I don't remember if it was a freeze or CTD or something else. The sim just didn't work anymore. I found out that selecting "Ignore crashes and damage" in the P3D setup Realism, fixed the problem. Like there was some invisible wall in the sky where my plane crashed against.
December 13, 20241 yr Author My reply seems to have got "lost in the post". I disabled AIG and set Airliners and GA planes to zero in P3D settings. No problems, flew right across the problem area and reached the sea. So it is AIG. Will just have to avoid that area in future. I don't think I need to go the 5.3 HF2 route just yet but will keep it in mind. @Rein2 Crashes have always been on ignore, so that is not the problem here. Thanks. Even a FS9 traffic file does not crash the sim but stopps all other AI. More often the used planes are the culprit, there especially the .mdl file. If this is FS9, the sim crashes. A search of your AI files for older .mdl could let you find the causing file easily. Of course reading the file with an editor would show which sim it was made for. I don't think an AIG file lets the sim crash, cause they don't give you FS9 .mdl files. Rather some other traffic you manually installed once, aircraft oder boats, could be causing this. Did you exclude AIG by disabling the add-on.xml or just pulling the traffic slider to zero? With the latter all traffic is disabled, also non AIG. So that would not exclusively point at AIG. Rather not, since if this is broken, it just does not load. 16 hours ago, Luis Hernandez said: Do you have any suggested (or at least, favorite) editor? Notepad++ I even use a hex-code plugin with it, if I need to correct values in hex. Usually FS9 .mdl files have the code ...MDL8MDLH ... in the first line. This does not work in most cases. But I just found some addon aircraft I have, still working although FS9. These are LHC Piper Tri-Pacer and LHC Fairchild 24. I had checked my system and found these files from 2004. But they load and work as intended in P3D5. Unbelievable.
