Boeing MCP recommendations ?

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good Boeing plug and play USB MCP? If one even exists?

777/787 or 747 would be great but 737 will do.

  • My pleasure Howard, Very impressed however if I was doing something today I would want to ensure it had Hall Sensors...  That would be a requirement at these price points, not so much in 2013 LOL

  • I don't know if you're aware but WinWing is working on a version of the MCP of the B737, it looks promising, I think it's worth the wait.   Minute  1:48 for check price ( no date for release

  • Not easy but worth it in the end!  My Simpit viewed from my work desk LOL   As for the Brunner, I love it and the benefit for you is you can literally tune the Yoke forces to what you are u

take a look into "cpflight".

I should add , it’s for use in VR so visual appearance doesn’t matter, just after the spinning knobs for speed, heading altitude and V/S.

I have a minifcu but it only works for Airbus types, I’m hoping they develop a Boeing equivalent, surely there’s the market.

I have my old GoFlight MCP and EFIS I never use anymore if that would work for you....

I transitioned to OpenCockpits Modules so they literally just sit in the closet.

Minifcu works fine with Mobiflight and Boeings.  I have a WinWing and can’t do without Mobiflight.  Good luck,

WinWing has a 737mcu in development. I saw a prototype at Flightsim Expo. I would think it would be in production soon.

@psolkThanks Paul, that GoFlight stuff sounds like it might be beyond my technical knowledge to get set up. Given the information below the winwing sounds like it’s just what I’m after.

@polosim & @laserit Thank you gentlemen, I wasn’t aware winwing were planning a Boeing MCP but that was exactly the sort of thing I was after, I’ll keep a close eye on its development and release. In the mean time I might take a look at the mobiflight software @btacon recommends with the minifcu.

Ive had the minifcu for months and only just opened the box, Airbus scares me.

I’ve managed to create a space on my rig for a physical MCP in almost the exact correct position of where it will appear in the VR flight deck so I’m hoping I’ll be able to instinctively reach up and spin the correct control.

Thanks again

Be aware, plug and play with HW like this is not as simple as it sounds....  It's either going to work well with default planes, rely heavily on 3rd party software or rely on it's own software.

So SPAD, OI4FS, GoFlight has their own app, Axis&Ohs etc etc...   PMDG for example uses it's own LVARS which means a plug and play device that works great with default planes probably wont work with a PMDG and vice versa...

My OpenCockpits modules work with 787, 747, 777, 737 but still require some tinkering with 3rd party software to get them to do anything other than light up LOL.

I just want to set the expectation as there is really no simple plug and play HW device that will work with every plane...   (In my experience)

Thanks Paul, no nothing is ever easy is it.

On that subject,I’m also investing ( or indulging) in some Brunner hardware shortly, how have you found yours?

As for the Brunner, I love it and the benefit for you is you can literally tune the Yoke forces to what you are used to feeling in the real things...  The forces are variable and can be tuned so the Yoke force required with a hydraulic failure becomes greatly increased if you have everything set up properly.

Steffan will work with you 1:1 as well.  Personally I am a geek and like watching the yoke follow the A/P LOL

Here you go Jon a link to the catalog of MiniFCU profiles on flightsim.to. Mobiflight is Open Source and there are many profiles available for planes other than Scarebus.  Good luck,

@btacon Thanks for that, it may be good to put the minifcu to some use while I wait for the winwing Boeing MCP to be released. I suppose ultimately it will be nice to have the proper Boeing wheel for V/S rather than the Airbus spinning knob.

Ironic as this plastic jet I’m on now just uses spring and back power motors to produce an artificial feel, so the Brunner should feel very realistic in that respect. You can actually see the back power mechanism in the forward electronic bay, it’s scary, makes you realise you’re just literally flying a flight simulator for all intents and purposes.

Also looking at the rudders, I want to recreate the engine failure on take off on the 787 where the aircraft moves the rudder pedals to give the pilot tactile feedback to a failure. Although watching the default 787 rudder pedals and flight control synoptic page the rudder is dancing all over the place at high frequency so may end up with bruised shins if I rest my feet off the pedals.

Stream Deck XL is also a great choice for before and after you get your Boeing MCP from WinWing (which is the one you should buy, tbh - price point is great and the Airbus one is awesome). Loads of free profiles on FS.to, basically you can pull the MCP up on that for now but also the overhead/lights/etc.
