The question they are NOT asking is which sim so your fave /the one you think is best. Rather than ask that they use the neutral question saying PRIMARY. NOBODY every says to their friends or comments on forums about their 'primary' sim. It's their favorite or it's the best (those people who need validation for their choice). I use different sims for different planes. It's all about the addons for me, I won't use my 'favorite' plane in my 'favorite' sim. That's compromise. I will use the most accurate plane in whatever sim it was released for. The sim is largely irrelevant with the caveat that I will use the most recent version of the sim the plane needs as long as its a local installation. No streaming assets that would fit easily on my storage. So TLDR no primary, no favorite just variety and options always available. Russell Gough SE London
March 8, 20251 yr It's beyond me how people fail to come up with descriptive thread titles. I (and probably most forum users) would love to know what a thread is about before clicking it. "This should attract attention." does certainly not serve this purpose, but using "Navigraph consumer survey" instead would help a lot. Is this really that difficult to think about when starting a thread? My simming system: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB RAM, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, LG 38" 3840x1600

Absolutely, but this seems to be more common in the young generation of Tiktok users with short attention spans, not so much with long-standing and experienced community members such as Bob. Edit: And there's another thread with a similar title on page 1, but I won't be bothered to repeat my comment there too... Is this really that difficult to think about when starting a thread? I tend to agree. I don’t like changing topic titles but I think in this case it’s necessary to draw people’s attention to what is being discussed. So sorry @Bobsk8, I hope you don’t take offence but I’m changing the title and also moving it to Hangar Chat as it’s not restricted to MSFS. Ray (Cheshire, England). That's wonderful, I also use FSX still, due to the project Tupolev TU 154, so I understand fully. The question was not which aircraft do you like most in what simulator, nor was it which simulator do you like best, it was which simulator do you use the most. There can only be one answer, the one you use the most. The survey is not looking for long winded and conficting arguments for and against what you think is right and what someone else thinks is right instead. It is trying hard and I think succeeding in looking for empirical answers and trying to rule out opinion, bias and other factors that can skew the results. Edited March 9, 20251 yr by Reader

Yeh I get what it's asking but it's a loaded question as it's inferring /assuming that everyone does in fact have a 'primary' sim. The question before it SHOULD be A "do you have a primary sim you use solely or more than any other by a large margin" OR B do you spread your time equally between more than one sim? " If you answered A which of these is your primary sim? If B then please tick all the appropriate boxes. ALL the appropriate boxes is an option in many multiple choice surveys. Software publishers would love for everyone to play only one game. THEIR game. But to do this they would first have to convince players that they only need to play ONE game as it is THE BEST. Why would anyone not want to play 'the best'? Hence why software media and many forum posters (like here on avsim!) can't get their head around the idea that THERE IS NO BEST SIM. They all have strengths and weaknesses most obviously via system depth and graphic depiction of the simulated world. Simming is not unique in 'gaming' which has for decades had the running and unsolvable argument between which is most important in a game : the best graphics or the best gameplay? Most people play multiple games in each genre for variety. They don't need a PRIMARY game. Nor do simmers. When a sim comes out it does not replace or negate the existence of existing sims just because it is newer with (obviously or debatedly ) better graphics. IMO we must resist becoming as sheep following one shepherd only because as humans we are NOT sheep. Before I digress further into the meaning of life I'll quit but I will not answer a question in a survey just because it gives me no chance to answer correctly for me. Also.. Counting the total hours and minutes you spend on each sim and calling the 'winner' the primary is not allowing for the number of flights you took or sessions you played. Vive La Difference!
