How reduce FSLTL TextureSize working in MSFS2024? Need Help

Featured Replies

Hi Simmers!

I don´t see any injected AI Traffic with FSLTL, as soon as I reduce the texture size of the FSLTL Simobjects (AI Airplanes).

Before I reduced the textures they where woring but I need more headroom in MSF2024 for VR purposes.

What I did:

Installed FSLTL directly into the MSFS2024 community-folder

Tested MSFS2024 with the FSLTL Injector - All Fine

Then copied the FSLTL Base folder within the same spot and renamed the origin folder to keep it as it is (Backup)

My new copied folder is an exact copy and the name is FSLTL Base, as the origin was

Then I used the texture resize tool (setup as needed, I am familiar with the settings)

Started MSFS2024

INjected the traffic

Nothing visible.

Do I need to use the layoutgenerator? Or is it not possible to reduce texturesize anymore in MSFS2024?

Who has it working and how did you manage to get it work?

Help would be appreciated 😉

Thanks in Advance

Marcus

This is exactly what you need to do.
Apparently MSFS2024 is more sensitive to the file size information contained in the layout.json file.

Once you update your layout.json after resizing the textures, it should work.

Is it correct to

Drag and drop the layout.json over the generator....and thats it?

Or how do I use it?

I had also tried, I thought it didn't work on MSFS2024 but suddenly, I don't know how to do it?
What is the layoutgenerator? Where can I find it and how does it work?

Thanks

You can find MSFS Layout Generator here:

https://github.com/HughesMDflyer4/MSFSLayoutGenerator

To use it you simply take the layout.json file that you want to update and drag and drop it over top of the MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe file.

Full explanation of what it does as well as instructions are at the link provided above.

Hello! I have resized the textures to 1024 with "textureoptimizer". ->https://izn-flightsim.s3.amazonaws.com/textureoptimizer.html

Now BATC shows me in the BATC-MAP there should be other planes then mine, but i can not see any.
I can hear the traffic from BATC with the ATC.
I have replaced the original folder with the optimized folder, named it like the original.
but no planes there now.
Whats wrong here? thanks for Tips.

EDIT: Its solved.
Google did not translate correct the order how to work with the layoutgenerator.
I translated it with DeepL so i understand correct what to do. The planes are back (in FS2020 and FS2024)
(My FSLTL Folder is rediced to 5 GB)

I had reduced mine to 512, and it's good enough for me 🙂  Folder 1,8 GB !!!

I am trying to  change the texture size in an aircraft. When I replace the texture files I want to change with the new ones, then do I drag and drop the layout.jason file after I do that, to the Layout generator. Once the layout generator modifies the layout.jason file, do I  then drag  the updated layout.jason file  back to  the folder where it was it originally was?

I tried it once, it worked but I did not see a single digit more FPS. So back to default 4K textures, not worth the hassle for me...

How subjective are things... for me, 1024x1024 are already hideous, 2048 acceptable.

BTW if one is interested in 1024x1024, there is already a downloadable package in flightsim.to that saves a ton of time.

Sorry for the late reply. Not sure if you still need help with this…

Yes, you update the layout.json file AFTER you have finished resizing the texture files.

You do not need to move the layout.json file at any point. By dropping the file over top of the MSFSLayoutGenerator executable, you are only updating the layout.json file, and not actually moving it. It remains in its original location.
