Anyone else find 2024 unusable after update?

Featured Replies

Wondering if it's just me but 2024 is now unusable. Once I select the departure airport I have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before it pushes through the cloud to the airport runway. That's after a good 5 minutes after selecting the departure airport. So 15 minutes. Then once on the runway the graphics very slowly draw themselves right in front of my eyes. I start with basically the skeleton of a cockpit and grey patch for a runway. That all takes a few minutes to propegate. Performance is fine once all is said and done, but that's basically unusable in my opinion.

For me, it is rock solid, flights launching every time in well under a minute with everything loaded and crystal clear straight away.

I did a great Fenix run into Ini's JFK yesterday with full AI and it performed beautifully 60-80f. I think that's an issue local to you.

  • Works perfectly for me, sorry.

It's bizzare. The runway is a foggy grey patch. Then it draws itself out. Cockpit is just a frame and it draws itself out too. Maybe I need to reset my video card.

Working fine here. Any Internet bandwith issues on your end?

I did a flight yesterday from PADU to PANC in the FlightFx P180. The plane handled like a champ almost throughout the flight. All of a sudden, all ground scenery went blurry, and the plane made a left turn from flt plan and start descending then climb. It took me a little while to recover, the AP refused to reengage. I had to use manual mode to get back on correct course, then ground scenery cleared up and AP was able to reconnect. All went fine the rest of the flight. That was the first time that ever happened to me in 2024 and that was the first flight I took since the last SU1 update. But I wouldn't go as far to say that 2024 was unusable.

So that's what happens as soon as I start on the runway. Everything is blurry and the plane acts up. It'll be sitting there not moving, then it crashes and resets me airborne. Same thing you described but right from the get go. Strange.

You can stop being reset in the air by a crash by turning off crash detection in settings. But I also noticed that FS loses focus on the main screens which cause me to lose mouse control.

For me, It does take an extra minute or 2 to get it past the spinning circle since the update. Other then that its running great.

i'm surprised you only get stuck for 5 to 10 minutes, mine just spins with the white circle in the bottom right hand-corner.  It's brutal, I walked about and came back 1/2 hour and it was still going.   (FBW A32nx (LEAP))

It's a well known issue, a good workaround is zooming out after you selected the departure and before starting the flight.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Yesterday i have done 15 VFR flights with several vanilla aircraft and i did not encounter any problem. Graphics, smoothness, everything was fine.

Just loading time into cockpit in free flight mode takes sometimes unusual long.

PS: I was not using MSFS 2024 since the first tests after release due to the sheer amount of frustrating bugs. Now it seems to be basically usable.

Yes, choose your starting point, zoom out, then push "FLY". Works most times.
