iFly Max update

I have the A350 and find it a great add-on.  Considering how many fixes were required for this 737 I found it odd how much praise it got and the few the A350 got - clearly the 737 was 'broken'.

The iFly MAX is certainly not broken - I'm not sure how you reach that conclusion. Judging by the praise given by @Stearmandriver (RW 737 pilot), I'm confident that the iFly is an excellent addon.

I own quite a few payware airliners - the Fenix package, the PMDG 737-600 and -800, PMDG 777, iniBuilds A350 and A300, TFDi Design MD-11, JustFlight 146 and RJ - and I think the iFly is right up there at the top in terms of the overall quality.

Yes, it was a bit rough around the edges upon release - but I still think it was in a better shape than the ini A350 at launch - if we're going to compare the two.

Even the best payware planes over the years have had MANY fixes done.  PMDG, Fenix you name it.  A long list of fixes is a good thing.  It's a dev who is listening and acting

I used the MAX a lot in 2020. Its a solid addon, probably my favorite along with the Fenix. System depth, flight dynamics, visuals, sounds - it’s a very high quality addon. Can’t wait for it to be com

I agree Ifly is top quality as anyone else. I'm just disappointed it hasn't made it over to 2024 yet. I'm not going to slam any developer for trying to release a product into a not so ready product 2024. I applauded them and will continue to support them for their efforts as long as they listen a try to update their product.

I get your points though at a stable and happy customer base though.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion it was broken.

They didn't have multiple users complaining it was crashing and unusable like ini did.  They didn't have reviewers with it crashing during their stream. They didn't release it anyway knowing all of that.  That is "broken" which is how the 350 was released for NUMEROUS people including numerous WASM crashes.  That can not be denied.  Heck, it's an $80 add on with supposedly all the latest and greatest ground handling yet they "forgot" to animate the landing gear?  Hasn't been fixed in any of the 4 patches yet either.    Again:  They over promised and massively under delivered and people were upset after what they "thought" they were getting based on what they were told.

The bottom line is the 350 criticism is clearly irrelevant to the 737 which you don't own but just called "broken" so there is no reason to be discussing the 350 here is there?  Not sure why you even brought the 350 into an iFly update thread.

This is an iFly update thread not an ifly vs ini thread.

Do you fly this plane, if not don't speculate on reviews, you can only form an honest opinion if you fly or test them yourself.

I guess you missed the part where I stated that I had read some negative reviews. That is what I always to before I spend money on something that reportedly has issues. 😉

Another thing I have found odd is the critisicm of the Inibuilds A350 yet almost universal praise of this 737 - just look at the length of fixes required!

But very stable since first release, just 4 versions in several months, not every day 😅, and talking about performance, excellent

Very stable in 2020. I wonder if they get the same results in 2024, Oh wait they won't release a 2024 version yet. When they do , do you think it will be released in a perfect package?

After updating, I'm getting CTD's. Will look into it more to see if I can figure out why.

In regards to 2024 compatibility. This was posted almost a week ago from Kirk on discord.

"Guys do not expect 2024 update imminently. The next update will be 2020, then from that will be focusing on the 24. Personally I expect it to be a few months not weeks. Just need you to be patient further - SU1 has just released. We need time to fully test and see what works and what bugs have been introduced."

The A 350 reviews I have read so far are not too good.

I fly it all the time and beg to differ.

Have you deleted any config ini files from any liveries you install. Their discord advised that they can cause conflicts.

While existing liveries are compatible with this release, **DO NOT keep old ini files**, including those self-generated or received with the livery packages.  Some painters package ini files with their repaints to replicate the airline default options.  Those old ini files can cause conflicts with the new build.

Has no one noticed that the update log itself is hilariously bugged and seems to include feedback notes from testers, pointing out a ton of bugs that either existed before this update or still exist? I don't have the Ifly and have no real opinion on it, I just can't believe that no one appears to have actually read the notes that iFly seems to have really screwed up.

Yeah, that change log is useless. It needs to be re-written.

It's stable after a restart, but I will delete them just in case. Thank ya!

Not my intention. In fact I completely hashed up a tongue in cheek comment about 'broken' products.  I have been well known and criticised by some for being a 'word not allowed' because I am positive about MSFS 2024 and other addons that are 'broken'.  I did try, but failed, to re-install 2020 just so I could buy the iFly 737 because of all the positive feedback about it.

I am always criticising those who don't seem to understand complex addons are never going to be released in perfect condition.  Every complex addon is going to require many updates as bugs are found, especially by users of the product after release.  So, when I saw how many fixes there were for the iFly 737,  I made a comment it must be 'broken' - obviously a not very well thought out comment.  I only mentioned the ini A350 because it was criticised by many as 'broken' - I certainly didn't mean to hijack the thread!

Apologies for my ill though out comment - I rather feel like I am talking with my simming buddies on Avism (the only forum I frequent), so I didn't really think this one through 😊

What do you mean?  It's a list of open items / tickets that have been addressed in the update. I made several of those reports myself.   What would you expect from a changelog, other than a list of areas that have been changed?

As far as pointing out "a ton of bugs", most of this is minutia, the kind of thing that exists in every sim aircraft... The kind of thing that is found when you have beta testers who are very familiar with the aircraft in real life.  The takeaway is that it's actually been addressed.  Compare that with another sim 737 dev who has been blowing off reports of both minutia and significant problems for years... 😉.
