FS24 isn't doing well on Steam. Neither is FS20.

Er, people who are interested in flight simulation and the prospect of continued support for our hobby down the years? As usual it will probably turn into another miserable MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024

This is why I don't really use it. Who cares if the physics and ground are so good, when objects are popping in front of you? Or melted buildings and blobs of trees are surrounding an airport. You can

Spoken like a true MSFS 2020 shark👍😆

MSFS 2024 is getting there. It's a matter of time before these numbers change and you and everyone else, now reluctant to jump on the 2024 wagon, will be on board. Then there will be the next version, lol.

Yeah, when it is ready, I will probably get it, but it is far from that now for sure. Maybe another 6 months.

Yeah I think if somehow Microsoft decided to totally pull the plug on 2020 and 2024, most of the hardcore sim type would move to xplane not p3dv6.

And the sales of 4 TB drives will skyrocket, to hold the scenery,

Why? Map enhancement streams the same bing images as MSFS. In fact it streams newer ones.

Sure--they've been at it now over 26 years.  And yet they still have a fraction of the market share of MSFS.

I was messing around with XP12 and configured my controls. So easy and intuitive. Only someone with no experience at all in flight sims could have come up with FS24’s control assignment design. But then as i play around with XP12 it becomes clear that the people creating it are very experienced. With FS24 (and FS20) a lot of non simmers clearly are working on the project. But the vast difference in resources is clear in many areas. It’s David vs Goliath.

I saw a video just after 2024 was released  of someone setting up some of their controls, and I was amazed at what a nightmare that was compared to 2020. That alone helped me  decide to stay far away from 2024.

I bought 2024 last night... Back to 2020 and XP12 for now.

That's hilarious.  Took me a few days to get everything setup correctly and since then all has been well, save the limited airliners available.

So you don't have to install any scenery in XP anymore?

No. Just use map enhancement.

The ironic thing here is; you probably have to install more scenery to MSFS20/24 to get accurate airports than you do to XP12, due to the community effort in XP12. Also, looking at the addon scenery market for MSFS, it makes you wonder why it all sells so well, if everyone is happy with it ‘out of the box’. If I used my local airport out of the box in MSFS, it’s atrocious. So I had to install a paid 1.2GB addon.

As another airliner flyer who uses APL as well as SLC and GSX 2024 works just great but lacks the airliners we would like to use.  As soon as a few of them arrive there will be little to no reason to stay in 2020 that I can see.

“Took me a few days” - and therein lies the problem.

I’ll be doing the same thing over a period of time, but from a UI design and interface standpoint I don’t think I’d call it a success.

I resorted to learning spad.next. Way easier than that UI they implemented in 24. It’s a headache that thing. And that’s saying something.

I tried the XP demo a few years ago, and I have to admit, XP's  control setup is the best. It is intuitive and easy.

They (Msobo) should be cleaned out, to make way for new managers that put simmers first.

I wouldn’t necessarily go that far.  But, I do wonder if they actually play their game outside of testing limited scenarios.  Having more resources isn’t always a good thing.  You can end up with bloat and bureaucracy that stifles efficiency and creativity rather than fostering it.

Very true but then again what's a 'few days' in the context of YEARS of use?  I'm 1000% certain it would take far more time to get familiar w/ Xplane's own version of setup for new users, and that because I'm very familiar with 2020 and they share a lot of similarities.
