XP12 atmosphere is better than both 2020 and 2024, as are the clouds most, but not all, of the time. However this is my opinion, so yours may differ.

pic from over xp forum

I have looked at several recent XP12 videos including the one Bob posted and more often than not weather/clouds look considerably worse than what I see in 2024.  That pic for the XP forum would be a super rare image...after what I've seen in videos.

Er, people who are interested in flight simulation and the prospect of continued support for our hobby down the years? As usual it will probably turn into another miserable MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024

This is why I don't really use it. Who cares if the physics and ground are so good, when objects are popping in front of you? Or melted buildings and blobs of trees are surrounding an airport. You can

Just found this video, interesting, if this is default scenery.

I can make you a video of default MSFS20/24 airports if you like and put one side by side with an XP12 airport. And I can guarantee the XP12 one will have ZERO problems with popping objects and LOD. It’ll also have real life taxi signs.

There isn’t much point in cherry picking. Again it takes a couple of hours to setup XP12 with map enhancement and sim heaven. And that takes the scenery level to good levels. Not as good as msfs by any stretch. Again, cherry picking. Each sim has pros and cons. Use what you wish. But comparing scenery like in that video that you posted, is like having a drag race with a ford and a Porsche 911 turbo. It’s pointless.

That’s because the videos are BEFORE XP12.2 beta… do some due diligence instead of just believing the first thing you see/read.

Anyways that’s me signing out of this conversation. Just remember, variety is the spice of life and don’t keep all of your eggs in the same basket.

Cherry picking my quote now and quoting me without context. To clarify, what I said was:-

Show me ONE good video that demonstrates a serious improvement in the fluff I've seen so far.

There was only ONE WAY to interpret that comment, sorry.  You made that comment directly after stating you enhanced default and yet still was 'not as good as MSFS by any stretch'.

I'm pretty sure this was the video that got to the point quickly as to what is critical to understand about controller setup in 2024:

Incorrect.

The most highly classified items are related to comms and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.

There is a simply shocking amount of available hard data on many weps, systems, and aircraft.

And much of the rest can be readily inferred by folks familiar with that world.

Don't believe the hype no its not and I have worked on military bases (ordinance propellant) before. You just don't implement those things in video games for kids to use and adults that are not qualified.

Asobo/MS deserve it. The hefty price on release with clearly a pre-Alpha build giving no release caution as to its actual state; screwing up respected developers like PMDG by screwing up all kinds of things with an already stable predecessor; and botching up on top of that the release itself and; six months later with beta builds a marketplace just now getting back to some semblance of sanity - the numbers speak for itself.

Solo había UNA MANERA de interpretar ese comentario, lo siento. Lo hiciste justo después de decir que habías mejorado el valor predeterminado y, aun así, "no era tan bueno como MSFS ni por asomo".

I use 2024 and X-plane 12 as I have said many times here and x-plane as I have it set up graphically is much nicer than 2024. Of course you have to spend time configuring and installing addons, I also have to do the same with 2024.

The unfinished business of xp12 is performance, the biggest advance of 2024 is not the graphics no matter how much nonsense is said here, the biggest virtue of 2024 is its performance.

In the end I do not marry any simulator, I marry with the addon that for me are what motivates me to fly this week for example I have already 5 flights with A2A Comanche despite the CDT, last week I flew exclusively the 525 Torquesim in Xp12 and I enjoy equally.

One of the biggest improvements for me with 2024 over 2020, other than the flight model, is just how much better NZ looks.
It was so awfully over-saturated and cartoony before, but now looks much closer to reality.

XP 12 clouds look terrible because they are blurry.  This is not a problem with MSFS 2020/2024, or even DCS World. The blurry clouds are unique to XP 12.  It's like your friend left their glasses on the table, and you picked up your friend's glasses and put them on even though their glasses totally don't match your vision at all.

It's something that LR hasn't figured out since the beginning of XP 12. XP 12 clouds have so much catching up to do, to catch up to MSFS 2024 clouds.  And before anybody says the video above isn't 12.2.0, here is 12.2.0 from LR themselves, and you can see the clouds are still blurry (even in the portrait they are using for the Youtube video, you can obviously see that the clouds are blurry):

And clouds are so vital to flight simulation. It really ruins the experience, with the blurry clouds, IMO. But anyways, this is my opinion - everyone may have a different opinion.

I don't believe hype.

I'm reflecting on my time in the US Navy as an Intelligence Specialist with a high level clearance.

Nothing in flight sim is "one for one" to reality. And it just doesn't need to be in order to deliver an engaging and realistic experience.

In fact, we're getting to the point that more technical realism could be said to be delivering LESS fun.

If the DCS World A-10C is realistic enough that the USAF uses it to train IRL A-10C pilots, despite the fact that the aircraft still has highly classified systems, its more than enough to poke a hole in your contention.

And do you think that there aren't forked development modules for exactly these reasons...?
