Not to be that guy, but APL is right to give you a penalty - landing too softly can be dangerous:

  • it might not trigger the spoiler actuators if the touchdown isn't firm enough
  • it can cause you to float down the runway, airspeed to drop and an uncontrolled landing
  • it can cause lack of control in a crosswind or contaminated runway (e.g. puddles)

Obsession with "buttering" the landing is a simulator pilot thing, a real life pilot wants to feel that the aircraft is down.

Glad to know I'm doing something right 😁

As long as the servers don't suddenly go down, I'm still very happy with APL. The schedules are sometimes a bit strange, but I can solve that with charters. Simply flying in the simulator without prog

They have a huge amount of airlines (including legacy ones) you can fly for whenever you like and loads of routes, tours and competitions, all for free. Excellent VA.

Since I got iFly schedules,  I haven't flown APL V2  at all.   Love flying any  airline I want anywhere I want.

Curious, why use schedules at all?  This morning I wanted to do a route from Iceland and did Keflavik to Edinburgh in a Finnair 738, just ad hoc w/o scheduling software.  Maybe just because you wish to mimic routes used by specific airlines?  The Tools menu in APL2 does the same thing and lets one put in min/max time/distance so is as flexible as it needs to be, unlike its regular scheduler.

I like seeing 20 or more flights where I can choose what length and routes I haven't flown before. Always flying to different airports that way. Different airlines have different routes so that makes it interesting too. Right now I am flying around France and the UK, yesterday I was in the US. Never the same.
