MSFS2024 night lighting and flying

Is there any further word on the night flying experience?

So far the night flying experience is horrible. It looks nothing like in real life, not at all.

I avoid flying at night because of how poorly it’s represented. Surely they can do better than they done in 2020…

Oh wow, if you can't see it, then you must be having a lot of fun in the sim. This is TLOD 140 on a flight from Jakarta to Istanbul, overhead sort of between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, at FL350 or some

Yes, I remember they made it look a lot better in 2020 after we all complained about the sepia mask, and for some reason its regressed in 2024. Disappointing that's for sure

And this is how it looked years and years ago on the other sim, with an add on I hasten to add.  Just no glowing.  I also find it strange how there is no add-on to get rid of the sepia mask.  I'd hand

I hope that they improve the terrain lighting. It's one of the main reasons why I'm sticking with 2020. Here's a pic inbound into KTPA:

My main issue was the terrain white lights. They reed to reduce the size and add some color variations. Night time is not just white lights. It might take a third party developer to improve it. I hope that ASOBO hears our request.

Agreed, def do need more variety.

I have exactly the same feeling and I still don't understand how anyone can get to this level of mediocrity. You mention night flights, but everything else is not much better. The more I fly 30 to 50 hours a week, the more I realize how simply amazing FS2020 is.

It's not quite a night flight here (FS2020) and it's enhanced with REX Atmos. I have solid fun in each of my flights, that's all that matters to me. I want to feel like I'm there.

I’ve read in various spots the night lighting in MS24 is really bad with the sepia mask making it look cartoonish. I have heard nothing from Asobo on them addressing it.

I agree, and on some aspects I prefer xp12, my other sim, but for instance cloud illumination during night from city lights is good enough for me...

My ONLY grip with night lighting on this latest beta have been the airports lighting "fat bulbs"...

The sepia mask is ridiculous in 2024! And the overall lighting and airport lighting as others have mentioned are quite bad. I avoid the night time in the sim and really hope they do something about it. We did pay some good money for the sim, the least we can do is use it in all its glory, after all, night time flying is one of the most important aspects of aviation!

It's another reason I went back to MSFS 2020.  It's not really convenient to send a picture but anyone flying high and at night will know what I mean.  The massive radioactive yellowy Fallout-style glowing fields.  It's absolutely dreadful, and I don't know why it's passed and put up with (especially when considering how good flight sim looks in the day)

I'm surprised there's no way (even a hacky way) to turn the sepia glowing fields off, given all the things we can do in the sim.  I would pay good money for a night lighting add on, even something that just turned the glow off so we just had road lighting.

Agreed!

It baffles me why Asobo Studios did not notice this during beta testing, and it baffles me even more that they have not done anything about it in the six months since MSFS 2024 was released

I'll take it a step further to say, while they did get rid of the sepia mask in 2020, and that made it look OK, it's still not the best visuals for night time flying in both sims, its 2025 and as mentioned, the sim looks amazing during the day, but night time still is on par with P3D. How many years ago was 2020 released? 🤣
