What exactly will be updated in SU16 for MSFS 2020? I am assuming that none of the issues that affect me will be included.

I am willing to bet my mortgage that you will not be satisfied.

They'll likely talk about the updates and content in SU16 on the May 21 dev update livestream

They should try fixing the 2020 won't shut down issue.

I’ve never considered myself out of the a paying Beta … they call them “Official” releases 😉.  I know Asobo/MS are working hard on it, but I never really considered MSFS 2020 and now 2024 as anything other than Beta from release day.

It’s just the nature of software development these days as the cost to bring bugs down to a much smaller number is just to expensive (it would add 2X or 3X more to the retail price).  The positive spin is development work is still being done and some issues are getting addressed.

If you have never joined an official beta, you have never been using a beta.

Good. I'm glad there's a new beta tomorrow. And I hope it's radical. The whole problem with 2024 is that it's a bore. They need to recreate the excitement of the release of 2020. I used to have updates every day on .to and new products to buy or download. Plus the fun of dodgy new builds. Now there's nowt much new.

SU2 was extensive.

Anybody that enjoys flight simulation could not say that.

2020 was a major step forward in flight simulation.  Current hardware can not currently allow such a big jump

I see where the issue is - its flightsim.to

Hello?

From yourself probably not, but on the flightsim stores I would disagree.

Yes I know you have to sign up for Beta.  I think you missed the point. 😉 Beta or Official ... one in the same from my perspective, both FULL of bugs.  Like others have suggested, we're paying Beta users. Nothing knew, all flight simulator platforms I've used do this approach.

No, didn't miss the point, but the point was wrong.

As I said, I got the point, but the release and beta are not the same.  The whole point of a beta is to see, report and help fix the bugs.

No, you are not.  Taking part in a beta is a free option for those who want to influence and help fix bugs.

We disagree the point.

Yes I know what a Beta program is, I was on the Beta program for 2020 and before the release of 2020 I was on the developer program.  I opt'd out of 2024 beta and developer program (due to time constraints).

I design/code/deploy software for a living, a good living, I do know thresholds for Beta vs. Alpha vs. Release.  When I come to install a product and it goes into some bizarre state with a "null" message for Marketplace and shortly afterwards CTDs, that's most definitely "Beta" but I was installing the "Official" release.  I paid $199 via MS Store.  I got a refund, shifted over to Steam and made purchase and it installed (and I can fly) but still issues with Market Place and having to connect to my XBOX account.  Yet, 2020 has NO issues connecting to my XBOX account.  So this is clearly poorly tested code not worthy of "Official" status and very much Beta.

I've never released "Official" software that can't at least be installed correctly, that's a significant threshold I need to cross in order to go down the road of "Official".  I make sure "customers/clients/users" can install on a variety of different systems meeting product requirements, that's sorta a KEY step to calling something "Official".  And before you say "it's you not them", there are many threads regarding the issue I ran into that apparently got ignored for 6 months.  Hence, this is paid Beta.

If you don't want hear my experience then read the experience of the many other users on Steam and why 2024 has a less than positive review.  Now I think MSFS 2024 has some promise, the improvement to flight physics alone are worth waiting the "Beta/Official" out to see if things get corrected.  Unlike you, being in the Beta program has little or no significance ... been there done that followed the reporting procedures.  It's just an access point for deployments, reporting to a Beta forum or Generic Support forum, the responses are the same, the results are the same.

Why are you not listed as a commercial member, then?

As I said, I opt'd out for 2024.

MSFS 2024 with SU2 update still has A LOT of significant serious issues/bugs:

PDX - select Parking RAMP GA and I get placed in the same spot of AI aircraft A319 (for GA RAMP??)

Resource Usage exceeds GPU memory capacity (this seems to be a false message as my GPU has 16GB VRAM and 11GB showing as be used by RTSS) ... didn't get this message in prior "Official" release, only after the SU2 update (I'm not using Ultra settings, just High-End defaults).

Aircraft seem to taxi everywhere and anywhere, thru other aircraft, onto the grass, some floating with no wheels ...

Ultimately MSFS 2024 CTDs

I can go one as there are A LOT more issues in MSFS 2024 SU2.

Attempting takeoff at KHIO and go over some invisible bump in the runway and received a "crash message and shot my aircraft up to about 1000 ft".  There are so many issues with SU2, no feasible way anyone could consider this anything other than BETA software (or even Alpha as it's that broken).  And before you ask, this is a default MSFS 2024 Aviator install, ZERO 3rd party content installed other than what comes with the Aviator version.

Many airports with significant elevation issue making it impossible to taxi:

List of issues goes on and on and on

spacer.png

The ONLY positive I got from SU2 was my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is now recognized.  Don't get me wrong, I think MSFS 2024 has more promise than 2020 for the long haul, but like I said, it's still very much BETA (be it signed up or not) with a good 1-2 years before some of these issues get resolved.
