MGuy has an interesting video.  It turns out China is working on a range extender for its EVs to get over 600 miles on a charge.  It consists of a small diesel generator integrated into the car.  Basically, you carry a diesel generator in the trunk.

This used to be a joke. 

One of the best things about an ICE to EV conversion is, they can be converted back when the EV fad is finally over.

650 miles has been achieved by an EV, by the way. Chinese car. Solid state battery. Semi- solid state, more accurately.

Samsung have a 600 mile battery, too.

Not actually a hybrid as we know them.  The diesel engine does not drive the wheels, it only charges the battery.  Probably similar to a diesel-electric locomotive.  Gotta be simpler than a hybrid.

That sounds like some of the hybrid aircraft concepts I've seen. The diesel engine as a generator/battery charger. I think the EcoPulse is just a demonstrator, that still has a turbine engine.

Huh?  Maybe you need to list all the topics we can’t discuss?  I know, it will be a long long long long list, but might help reduce the traffic here.

BYD Seal is very nice. Excellent Blade Battery.

All the other manufacturers, including Tesla need to watch out

In this case irs about staying on topic. I don't care if my topics evolve into something else, but it is a rule on Avsim that we try to stay on topic. 🙂

What should be clearly understood (on any thread here on Avsim), is that any topics evolving into "political beliefs/arguments/disagreements" will be shut down...no further discussion.

There have been a few posts on this thread that have crossed that boundary, hence the friendly reminder from the moderator above.

Meanwhile.... Changan say their 930 miles on one charge solid state battery will be hear in two years. Yikes!

The topic of electrical power generation has been beaten to death over the years.  The site owner has expressed
this many times over ad nauseum!

Not nearly as much as MSFS vs anything else … is really better for the AVSIM?  There’s a long XP12 vs MSFS thread still going but MSFS vs P3D threads get shutdown quickly.

Setup a politics forum.

Setup an Electrics forum.

So what if people debate endlessly about it?  Traffic increases and more advertising revenue.

It’s not really any different than current platform debates.  Plus moderators can wave the magic wand of categories and move the thread.

I get volunteers, but don’t get the aversion to sustained ad revenue?
