Synaptic A220 Development Stream | June 2025

None of those PMDG products were created from the ground up... they are all recycled from FSX/P3D code. Calling development that started as open source glacial when a more established developer who makes a boatload of money can't even update their existing fleet to 2024 in 6 months isn't very fair IMO.

Funny you mentioned "recycled" (and therefore probably should not have been compared in the first place ) but you had no problems bringing PMDG's name up when it was a convenient  and popular dig earlier. Frankly no one apart from PMDG knows how much of their code was recycled and to be honest its none of my business as long as i have working product in front of me .. With PMDG i do for 2020 and 2024 .. with Synaptics i currently dont for both sim versions. . There comes a point when the previews get stale and its time to deliver to maintain credibility. You may think its ok to be waiting this long and provide excuses  but at some point a person is going to be asking for the actual product. For me personally its time for synaptic to deliver on what they have been showing since 2021... I have seen enough "development" updates.

Its also funny that you single out PMDG for not having all their products out for 2024 when the same can be said for Ifly and Fenix not to mention the fact that FSlabs just now managed to get their single product out these last few days...

Its also ok if you have a different opinion. It wont change mine however.

Cheers

Any news of its release?

Should be soon judging from the above timeline.

Not anytime soon, according to conversations in their discord.

Thanks for letting me know.

Could be another couple of years, development is very slow.

I am confused because on discord they are saying still good for Q4 release which I am very sceptical about!

It could still be released in Q4 but in what year? From my understanding developing for this project is done on spare time as its not the developers day jobs so its anyone's guess when it will or if it will release.

The problem is - this particular project is in development for far too long. Most users including myself appreciate the shear development times for complex addons however there comes a point where target audience aren't just interested anymore. Certainly we don't have a fully functional A220 yet so even if the developers release this next year or whenever then people will still buy it but how many will get them is a great question.

Why should interest in the A220 wane if it's not released this year or next?

It's not as if the real-world type is on the way out - on the contrary, it's one of the hot types in the short-haul segment, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

At least it has not been in development for as long as Space Shuttle Mission Simulator 2. I think that is fourteen years and counting to date.....

You would still buy it if there is no other alternative when the time comes (if it comes). Just like BlueBird’s development hell where they are trying to simulate every atom, which I think is a waste of time, I’m still going to buy it when it comes out in 2045 🤣

I thought I heard that the feedback at FSExpo wasn't great, maybe that lead to some delays.

But I'd wish they'd say something since they haven't hit their media deadlines at all.
