June 22, 2025Jun 22 Sun ever go down in MSFS 2024? Oh never mind that is a huge city on the horizon. Night lighting sucks. Sorry had to rant Happy Landings Edited June 22, 2025Jun 22 by jwhak
June 22, 2025Jun 22 Author Gotta use MSFS 2020 at night and MSFS 2024 in the day 😉 Sure will be nice when I can consolidate to 1 sim again with the improvements.

Just wish they could turn down the bloom effect or how the light scatters on the horizon or am i missing a setting in MSFS 2024 that should be off or on? June 23, 2025Jun 23 Here I also like the 2024 NL more than the 2020 NL , but I have multiple Color/Brightness/Contrast/Gamma settings changed in the NVCP and in the displays menu. Did the same in 2020 + Freestyle filters + REX Atmos, but I prefer the 2024 NL. Looks here more like the NL I see in the cockpit vids I follow on YT ( MightyMKL , Vliegpiet, DutchPilotGirl ). 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
June 23, 2025Jun 23 In the XP12 demo I did a night fly around LOWS, then did the identical flight in 2024. The glaring difference pardon the bun was down to brightness of lights: XP12 was much less bright. But types of lights, and distribution were not very different really. IRL I do some smaller city flying as well. Do you have an HDR monitor? It’s how the lighting is implemented, the ground does not glow like that and lighting isn’t the same intensity at a distance. Much more variation and they’re not blobs. I’ve flown plenty at night in cities and countryside.

June 24, 2025Jun 24 I also think it looks pretty good from high up. Not as great as you get closer to the ground. I am using Reshade however Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

June 24, 2025Jun 24 As an external reader, I just wanted to say that all of these discussions are useless until you post some screenshots to precisely show the problems. I've seen enough simmers complaining about the sim being too dark or too bright, when it really was just their monitor settings which were incorrect (their screenshots were looking just nice for everybody else).
