PMDG's questionable decisions on banning people.

 

There were not enough banned users on the main forum, so they expanded their crusade to Discord, hiding behind the guise of piracy.

   Banned from our Discord server?

  We have just banned a new load of users from our Discord server. These individuals were also members of Discord servers that cater to piracy, and we do not want to be associated with people who are also members of those servers. Please note that this is a zero-tolerance issue for use, so do not bother contacting us about it.

Users complain about being banned even though they have nothing to do with these accusations, and business as usual. If you complain, find bugs, or criticize anything, you are booted out.

 

While their overzealous followers jump in right away to protect:

 

More children outlining their experienced opinions of wingflex and sim operation, comparing PMDG to Fenix to Inibuilds and others, all wondering why this developer can't or won't do what this or that developer does (mainly Fenix)

 

 

How can people dare to compare their product with others? 

IMO, it's about quashing any criticism of their products.  They don't want any bad publicity or anyone comparing their product to those of their competitors.

I boycotted PMDG years ago.

I am not a member of any Discord server regarding piracy. I am a member of the following Discords:

QVirtual, QVirtual Staff, iniBuilds, MFS2024, Fenix, VATSIM, VATPAC, iFly, TFDi, HUES, MobiFlight, FlyByWire, Headwind, Horizon Simulations, FSLTL, FlightSim.to, Salty Simulations and a 2 other which are to do with F1 and a Blender Add-on.

I've been banned but have not been provided with why I was banned... and none of PMDG Support or staff will answer it despite legitimate requests for this data. I am autistic and have no idea what I have done wrong to warrant a permanent ban with no prior warning.

From my understanding the only way to discover a discord user is in a particular server is to be in those servers themselves, via the mutual servers tab.

Is PMDG taking part in these servers to find these users? Are other users reporting these users, in which case did the user who made the report also get banned? 
 

The stance of being banned without any room for discussion for people who could’ve been incorrectly banned or any other mistaken reason seems a bit short sighted to me. Particularly if you’re a paying customer.

anyway they’re free to run their server and forum however they want but it’d suck to be on the receiving end of this stance while being completely innocent.

Their server, but it seems slanderous to imply someone is doing wrong, esp when is *seems* some members are banned without good cause.  Don't know enough about Discord to say if banned names are posted or published.

PMDG descending to FSL levels of user interaction. Why can't everyone be as open and relaxed like the Fenix team or even IniBuilds? TFDi, iFly... all cool people.

I guess it's their Discord server, so it's their rules -- but it just seems a little excessive.

All jokes aside, isn't their banning system (announcing it's because someone is part of this or that) a kind of public insult or defamation / libel, which is basically something relevant to a justice court ?

 

Their statement, if we read carefully, says, "We have just banned a new load of users from our Discord server."    To me, it's clear who is responsible; furthermore, they continue to engage in disputes with customers, delete their messages, or ban them from their forums. Besides "their rules," it is a consistent pattern of nonsensical banning of people left and right due to disagreements. 

 

They should call their forums PMDG IS THE BEST, ONLY POSITIVE REVIEWS ALLOWED. 

Don't feel bad, a friend and I got a lifetime ban from the OrbX forums. We were told it was because we disrespected John Venema, ( OrbX CEO) on another forum, not OrbX.

The mistake was the assumption that you can post whatever you want, wherever you want, without any consequences.
Both PMDG and Orbx forums are company owned and like all forums, subject to rules, which, if broken, can result in a ban.
That can even happen in these far more open forums.
It's not really rocket science and all it takes to avoid a ban is a little forethought before posting, humility and politeness.
