Appropriate? It is generally impossible to reflect on what others think as "appropriate" in these forums. I asked a few simple clarification questions and was derided all the way through right from the start. But noted.

That said, because you claim to have resented it, I do apologize. My comment was not intended to trigger. It was intended to push a point that using the word "awful" seems a bit excessive here. Even slightly slanderous towards LR's work. If you legitimately see the need to use the word "awful" in this context, then it does sound like some deep-breathing is in order. You'll note that in my comment I did agree that the textures are out of place in some instances. In case "your neck of the woods" was also misunderstood, I specifically meant your own NL. The textures likely don't fit in well around EHAM.

I personally do not resent the fact that you chose to proactively enter what appeared to be the end of the discussion, fully aware of my point of view, with apparent intent to stoke flames. Why not? Because I'm accustomed to that general behavior now. Even from some who are "community leaders" and moderators. My comment pales in comparison to others I've seen who do deliver them with malicious intent. One of those regular offenders is in this very thread.

I did agree with you that using 'inadequate' was a better choice than awful,  but to suggest my use of the word is slanderous is going over the top, even for you.  Since I arrived here a couple of months ago I have been nothing short of 'giddy' with my praise for XP12.

It struck me, in the short time I have been on this forum, that I have yet to see you respond positive to anything. I just posted this image from XP12 to the end of the thread discussing haze, but I have no expectation that you will will respond to it, unless of course you find my use of a plugin to improve the scene from the base XP12 product worthy of a put down.

Agreed, that's why I let you know find it appropriate for you to apologize.

Let's say the remark I should get checked by a doctor, because I see things differently, is way out of line. Having said that, I accept your apology. Thank you.

I use the word 'awful' more often, also regarding aspects of the other sim. Calling the use of this word 'slightly slanderous' makes me think you have a very hard time with folks who see things differently than you.

Fine, that's noble of you. For your information, I entered and replied already on page 2 of the thread. My most recent post, affirming 'awful' is an appropriate word, was indeed intended to provoke a little. And since you told me to go get checked by a doctor it did 😁 I probably shouldn't have posted it, but to be honest I got seriously triggered by your tone in this and other threads. With all due respect, to me, some of your posts come across as pedantic and condescending towards others. I don't like that.

Regarding the topic of this thread, I'm considering to give Map Enhancement Pro a go, to get more out of X-Plane. But at this moment I spend most of my time in MSFS 2024, despite all its awful (see what I did here 🙃) shortcomings.

Cheers, Bert

Well worth the small fee for the extra resolution. The deloper has just included the option to generate the terrain with or without decals.

Yes indeed.... good to know that you suffer from the exact same conditions. But all good. Never wasn't. 'Tis but software in the end, software that I don't use to earn a living. One thing you'll never see/hear me do is criticize 3rd party devs. From either sim platform. Even if they've cheated folks out of money. Mega corporations on the other hand can handle and often deserve a dose of middle finger. LR is hardly mega-sized.

What I've noticed in life is that our words matter. Lots of folks passing through these parts don't think that way. Some of it is possibly English-translation related. I'm sure I can come across as poking or condescending. From me, it's neither. Never was. Nor will I be relaxing that any time soon. My only "slip up" here in this thread is what I apologized for. Some of us regularly and intentionally "slip up". Too often.

Actually no, I don't have plans to post in that particular thread. Did you want me to? Do you see me "white knighting" in all threads? No you don't. You see, the topic of ortho is actually different than the rest for one very specific reason:

It is 100% out of LR's control.

And for stating that, clarifying that, somewhat guarding that, against forum regulars who are FULLY aware of that fact, but who seem to bizarrely see a need to stroke that complaint again and again (your locked thread about the demo was hardly congratulatory....forgot so quickly?), I am 'binary minded' and ganged-up on. Hmmmm....

All to the point that LR themselves have responded to this effect in these threads. How rare is that? Do you see asobo walking through the other forum halls? Ever? Not. Even. Close. Maybe show a little respect on this one?

Ground textures got wrapped up in that. Sure they could use improvement but do they literally trigger a gag reflex? That's a physical response I'd associate with "awful".

Someone else from MSFS making more of a move to X-Plane while simultaneously crtiticizing MSFS?

Impossible!

and yet several in this thread feel like you have a condesending/negative tone (I counted to four members, nicely done, and three of them seems to be native english speakers - Urgent, ianRivaldo and MrBitsflyer)

Let's apply some common sense into this - aviation related.

If some ATC stations fail to read you correctly, maybe it’s time to check your own transmitter?

Mmmm yes that is interesting. Also curious how those names also happen to be those pushing these days that LR's somehow at fault for not mixing in native ortho. That group also happens to include the name-callers and those who refuse (if I really was condescending, that word would be "unable", but I haven't and am not) to contribute intelligently to the conversation. Is it possible LR is missing a legal angle here? Do one of them know the insides of LR's finances? Very curious how asking simple questions that they can't or refuse to answer and instead resort to continued complaints and antagonizing the question-asker, "magically" comes across as "condescending".

So you're emphasizing that words matter, but have you considered how these particular lines might sound to others? These are some examples from this thread:

You poor souls have clearly never worked with lawyers.”

“I'm sure your personal relationships suffer accordingly.”

“Did you also let your kids down this gently when you had to shoot their dog?”

“Does it trigger a negative physiological response when your eyes make contact with it?Hardly ‘awful’.”

I'm not native english so instead I simply let A.I analyze your style.

"If the goal was to engage constructively or foster discussion, this tone instead feels hostile and shaming, likely to provoke defensiveness and shut down productive conversation. Style is consistently sarcastic, mocking, and condescending"

But you feel it is not. No provoking, hostility or shaming at all, and absolutely no condescending tone from you in this thread.

However both human and machine interpret parts of your writing otherwise. So perhaps you might be accountable, and it might be unfair to only point at everyone else.

Tailwinds.
