July 5, 2025Jul 5 My computer screen recently started going black at times. I believe the problem started two driver updates prior to the current update on 7/1/25. Sometimes it be fine for a couple of hours, sometimes it goes black after a few minutes, sometimes it's black at start up. I will also occasionally go black and then re-start the computer. The NVIDIA app is not working properly. It won't save settings and the Automatic Tuning option does not work. The voltage is stuck on 0%. HELP??? NVIDA GeForce RTX3070 Ti, Game Ready Driver 576.88 (7/1/25) 11th Gen i7-11700kf Up to date version of Windows 10 Thanks Edited July 5, 2025Jul 5 by tdflightsim typo Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
July 5, 2025Jul 5 Administrators Overheat problem? Do you have the typical computer setup with a special desk and the cpu sits near the floor sucking in vast amounts of room dust? July 5, 2025Jul 5 if you have another monitor of some sort, then running msfs on that for a few days should tell you if the monitor is the problem. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Yes. But GPU heat levels are usually no higher than 45c. Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
July 5, 2025Jul 5 Administrators 45c is fairly warm! Do you do a regular cleaning and blowing out the dust on your cpu? That would be my starting point with this problem. July 5, 2025Jul 5 Commercial Member Roll back the driver. Black screens are common with the 576.xx NV driver series, and unless you have a 5000-class card there's little to no point in using them yet. @charliearon 45C is not warm for a CPU or a GPU. Just bought an air blower designed for computers, be here tomorrow. Thanks for the advice Charlie. Thanks for your advice too Luke. I did roll back the driver to version 572.16 (1/30/25), but not much change. I exited out of the NVIDIA app seeing as it not functioning anyway. Will see. Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

July 6, 2025Jul 6 My first thought (as Luke said) is if it started with the new driver then roll back to a previous stable driver. If that doesn't work maybe try a driver cleaner and a fresh driver install. If there's no overheating, driver cleaner used, previous driver installed... then its worth remembering that power delivery is a possible cause. One of those things were a number of causes can generate the same symptoms Edited July 6, 2025Jul 6 by martin-w
July 6, 2025Jul 6 I have had a failing power supply to cause occasional black screens. If the driver roll back and better cooling do not solve the issue, it could be a failing PSU. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 6, 2025Jul 6 Author Any advice on how to get the NVIDIA app working again. It won't let me uninstall it. I did re-install it over the existing one, but no luck. Thanks Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
July 6, 2025Jul 6 Moderator Also double check that the video cable is inserted solidly. It's a longshot but something to eliminate. You need to beg, borrow or steal a second monitor. You can eliminate the video card etc by swapping parts. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

Hold a blade of the fan(s) on your gpu / cooler / power supply if possible with a screwdriver or your finger to prevent them spinning while you blow the air. Take the case outside too. July 6, 2025Jul 6 Author Again, thanks for all the advice. I did get the new air blower and used on low without the nozzle at about 1ft away. Seemed to work very well. It seems to be more stable now that I rolled back the driver and I immediately exit out of the NVIDIA app when turning on the computer. I still question why the NVIDIA app won't let me adjust any settings and the voltage parameter is stuck at 0 volts? Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
