MSAA also does not play nicely with 12.2's clouds, so try FXAA instead. To counter the resulting blurryness, set RCAS to 100%. Works for me and is easier on the framerate to boot.

Thanks, sir!

Do you know any ways to mitigate the in-cockpit shimmers?

You need to watch the video (again?) to understand what is being developed.

I've seen the video and it has 0 to do with Aliased Lines on the ground ETC ETC.
The shimmering due to the lighting is 1 thing but there are other Core Anti Aliasing issues at hand that for me are more distracting that the Shimmering from the lighting.

Yes, because you have to have 3D rain and wiper configuration for any aircraft at a given notice in a networked config. So no, Ben was not misleading you...

Throwing the window obj at another person is only going to be applicable to them if they also have a 737, and they conveniently have their monitors set up.

Hi,

Never said Ben was misleading, I said that Ben isn't always right and in this case it was 100% true. When I asked Ben about Networking itself as well as 3D rain at the Expo. his answer to me was it's impossible, so his answer was/is not true.

All Laminar has to do is remove the 3D flight deck with the exception of the glass screens and wipers on all their default planes and the 3D rain effect would be available to everyone running any of those aircraft via hardware, then no more star wars rain effect.

Just create a new pulldown menu item in XP12 under view called flight deck, L/R could remove the 3D flight deck except the 3D rain effect, glass and wipers  from that view. Users in turn could use the flight deck view on their visual screens/computers and run the full 3D flight deck on the server computer.

But he talked about motion vectors and TAA for example.

All the above is why smart people generally will never enjoy xplane. Instead of just flying, they need to find something wrong, and it will be a continual complaint even after its improved, because it will never be good enough for them. Things that most wont notice or even pay attention too.

I always wait to see what the next round of complaints will be.

Yes, this is why I always drive my car with the manufacturer's defective windscreen wipers. I just take it out when it's dry and never in the rain.

You of course know that is not what this is about.

Are you excluding yourself from the "smart" demographic?

Comments like this are the sole reason things don't improve, Xplane 12's Anti Aliasing is horrible and is a huge immersion killer/distraction.  Especially when you have large high resolution displays and everything is magnified.

Now if you are playing on a 24" monitor then you may never even notice the AA issues this sim has.

I for one welcome making the sim better and fixing AA is part of making it better.  That is literally my 1 and only complaint with XP12, Just the poor AA implementation.

That is definitely a factor - I fly on 4K and a large monitor and with FXAA +2xMSAA I am totally happy. But then, everyone has a different level of "shimmering-tolerance", too. Mine is probably pretty high.

I often wonder what happens first - LR improving their tech so that X-Plane runs faster and with better AA on current hardware...or people getting hardware that runs current X-Plane faster and with no need for better AA 😀.

Its a race - anyone who has been in the business long enough remembers that no version of Microsoft´s flightsimulator (pre 2020) ever ran fluidly on even the best hardware the day it released and it usually took a few years for computers to catch up.

AMD and Linux instead of Nvidia and Windows?

IDK, I've never had any shimmers. Or noticed them.

7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux
My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

The shimmering scenery is very noticeable in VR and on my 4K TV. Hopefully TAA solves the shimmering.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11.

That is not true. Its all the nitpicking. The better it gets the more it happens. I repor real bugs. Spent days wathing AI on runways so i could provide a detailed report which was acknowledged and addressed. Most the stuff complained about is either being adressed, WIP, known about, and lots most wouldnt be aware of. Thans fir those who actually praise Laminar fir the hard work they have done.

As for smart, your all too smart for me.
