Next plane I should try

Yes it is... but the OP is looking for the next airplane for his training, after getting comfortable in the C172.. 🙂

If you ran this flight school, would you move him from a C172 into a Duke?

I most certainly wouldn’t!

More like a C182 RW.  But, in the sim, the G36 might do.  Rob Young's version still around?

I am really new to flying. So far I have only played with the C172 G1000. I am wondering what the next step up might be. Needs to be reasonably easy to learn how to start up and fly, good for sightseeing, faster than the C172.

I bought the A2A Comanche but I don't know how hard it is to learn and if it's good for touring the landscape.

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have all the Asobo planes and the Comanche, that's it.

Thanks.

You've already got the A2A Comanche, get the Turbine Duke and you're good for GA stuff with fast moving IFR possibilities.

(learning how to start em up and get em in the air is the best part of flight sims!)

This isn't a flight school, it's a flight sim and supposed to be fun.

Learning how to fly a Duke is a hilarious amount of fun. Dig into it! If you can start, fly a pattern, and land in a C172, you can do it in a Duke no problem!

Touring the landscape is best done with a plane which provides a great view and flies slow and is very stable. To slow a plane down: increase the UP trim and reduce the throttle. You won't sink, you will just be able to to continue to fly level, but slower.

To jump from plane to plane for a quick look inside while sitting on the runway:

Settings/Advanced Options/Developers Mode toggle ON...then go back into the cockpit and .....top menu...Tools...Aircraft Selector

Touring the landscape: high wing and big windows so you can see while flying slow. I like the payware Iris Jabiru 160 /170 (160 is round gauges, 170 is glass gps). Although its a 2020 plane, it flies very well for me in 2024, no problems.

Didier Lagaffe's freeware Citabria Champ.   It's a change from a C172 for sure (will get you used to a different type of seating and controls), and a very good sightseer.

The Comanche isn’t hard at all, but you should read through the manual. 👍

Depending on your Edition of MSFS, there’s a bunch of different options included, and most of them come with the G1000 or something similar.

look for another single engine, but with retract gear.

if you want to stay with what’s included, you should look at the TBM (IIRC, it’s the most popular plane in the sim), and for good reason.

another 2 options are the inexpensive Carenado C 210 T, or possibly the C 337 twin.

both are a step up in performance and complexity, but will feel very similar to operate as the 172.

only downside is that they’re steam gauge, like the Comanche.

if it was me, I’d work with the Comanche or go to the TBM.

Looks like you haven't flown the Comanche yet. That could be a very nice next step.
