Sound cutting out

Featured Replies

I ran a search for this, but nothing like it came up.

Recently I have been having a problem with the sound in FS2024. At a regular interval of 2 or 3 seconds I get a momentary cutout of the sound in the sim. I only get this in FS2024.  Sound in everything else (YouTube, XPlane, Elite Dangerous, recorded videos, etc.) is fine. Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix for it? It pretty much makes the sim unuseaable for me...

Thanks,

Russ

I reinstalled my chipset drivers and sound drivers which stopped sound popping for me, so that might help you.

If it is every 3 seconds, I would suspect something running in the background.  Have you excluded your msfs folder or drive from your virus checker (including the one built into windows) or tried disabling it?

Other than that, it may simply be that your settings might be a bit to high for your hardware, so you could lover a few of them a little and see if things improve.

Actually, I was being generous... it's actually every 1 second. Sound cuts out with an electronic click of some sorts. Tried changing a bunch of settings but no luck. Seems like it must be something exclusive to FS24 though, because everything else is just fine...

It might occur when the rolling cache becomes full and is being continuously overwritten.

I'd suggest having a read through this thread (and perhaps adding your voice/vote to it) over at the official forums:

Nothing we can do with the audio stutters. It's an issue with the sim, 2020 had a similar issue when it first got released but was fixed eventually.

I had audio issues like you are describing.  It turns out I had plugged in a usb memory stick.  This usb stick is not usually installed.  So I removed it and the audio cut out problem was gone!  I have no idea how the memory stick could Cause this issue?

A330 driver on YouTube has a video about sound problems which might be because of the maximum simobjects allowed in the sim . Maybe its related

Emptied it but no joy. Also increased my cache level. No change.

Not sure how to adjust that, but uninstalling and reinstalling the sound drivers finally took care of the problem. cianpars up above mentioned this, but Windows said I had the latest driver so I didn't touch it until just now. Worked like a charm!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!
