What has happend to msfs2020 ground textures?

No update should ever result in a downgrade. It isn't rocket science.

Thats what happens when people want amazing graphics and then when asobo released msfs 2020 the first year.

It practically looked like msfs 2024

Then people complained about performance.

So they has to degrade the graphics.

Same.will happen with 2024

I do not care about any performance improvements where texture resolution is concerned. I would rather keep higher resolution textures.

Yes, but what does this mean? Are the current streamed Bing maps textures standard? If they are, then I have nothing to worry about. If they are currently high resolution (and I can expect a reduction

  • They degraded the graphics so the game worked on the Xbox, see SU5 when it all went backwards.

I did report an issue in the last version (8.0.3) that ground textures do not load properly in the distance ( this is with High LOD turned off).

This only affects Bing New maps.  And i tested it with both 15 and 16 and the problem affects both versions

I tried some other maps such as Mapbox and it seems to work fine

Did you finally got a feedback from the Map Enhancement Tool developer?.

Looks to me the new Bing Maps are broken, don't know if intentionally by Bing or for any other reason whatever it is.

Cheers, Ed

MSFS visuals as of August 2020 were absolutely gorgeous!

The sim was dumbed down visually since then...

I have to agree, the clouds and weather especially, i long for the time prior to that. I remember watching a LIVE storm from the ocean form, and smoothly pass over the field was unlike anything ive seen since... even with ms2024 the clouds now move in a jerky fashion and spawn in and dont flow like they used to in the early days of 2020... just thinking how far we've fallen makes me want to take a break from all this nonsense ...

I am working on it at the moment.

The Bing works , but tiles do not load properly. Had me try disabling the cache in the app , but no change.

Bug: Tile Loading issue in lates version 8.3.0.0 · Issue #872 · derekhe/msfs2020-map-enhancement

There are a few people having the same issues

Well, I’m using the older v8.2.11 in SU15 (either with standard or high res textures) and the Bing New Maps ate not working right (or, as you say, not loading up tiles in the proper way) in regions like the Caribbean and northern South America.

Had to revert to Google Maps or to stop using the Map Enhancement Mod at all in the areas I fly often, as the ones mentioned before).

Could you please share on which areas have you tested v8.2.11 and SU15, and the Bing new maps are working right in your setup?.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Ed

What does it really mean that the sim doesn't support accurate terrain textures?

1. Is it a matter of the new Bing aerial images being less accurate than the old equivalents and less accurate than the current aerial images from Google Maps?

or

2. Is it a feature of the sim that is coming to the FS2020 sim with SU16, and this feature is what would limit the accuracy of the original aerial images in the sim, whether they were Bing or Google aerial images?

MS/Asobo should under no circumstances make the SU16 update such that the landscapes become less accurate! Or they should put a control/switch that allows you to choose the resolution of the landscapes.

Judge for yourself. This has been around for a while in the official forums:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs-su16-aggregation-of-complaints-about-poor-lod-low-resolution-blurry-terrain-textures/731741/2

This is coming from the SU16 beta.

To me, MS/Asobo are capable of doing whatever they want.

Maybe they are aiming to make it look like P3D. 😁

I even considering going back to P3D. At least I know what to expect...

I used to fly to Tamiami airport all the time when I lived in Hollywood Florida. Nice short hop from North Perry Airport. I see they changed the name now.
